Truth be told, Manchester United are just getting away in the Europa League against teams that do not match their confidence. If Manchester United were what we thought as much, no doubt in mind that we won't see them in the final. Lyon is not much contender, they can easily beat Lyon and move into the semi finals which will determine, next on still isn't a competitive club, (Athletic club or Rangers), maybe we just skip our interest on the remaining matches and hope for the final where they face Premier League rivals Tottenham.

Red Devils might be struggling in the EPL but they cannot be written off in the Europa League. They have the best players in Europe and Ruben Amorim is one of the best coaches in Europe. We saw what he did with Sporting Lisbon when he turned a mediocre team into a force in the Portuguese league and Europe at large.

Of course, the English Premier clubs that's still in the competition are the strongest because the rest clubs don't have the strength to play United despite that United is not stable and don't have sharp strikers. When it comes to a different club that is not in EPL, United do give us a big surprise with a brilliant surprise. Therefore, I wouldn't choose Lyon over United because Lyon is the underdog.

The Lyon Football Club may look a little stronger on their familiar ground but perhaps Manchester United Football Club will be able to overcome that properly.

Lyon concede 4 goals at home to Strasbourg, then smash FCSB 4-0 in Europe. Total Jekyll & Hyde stuff. But Groupama Stadium is statistically a fortress for them. 2.0 points per game at home, way better than their away form. United better not walk in there thinking it's easy. Also, you nailed the bigger picture. Historically, United beats up quarter-finals (64% progression rate), but then they get to the semis and suddenly it's drop to 41% progression rate. Plus, look at Athletic Bilbao potentially waiting in the semis, sitting top 4 in La Liga, not some mid-table squad. Indeed, Lyon might be "beatable", but if United goes in soft or with that old "we got this" energy, Lyon could flip the script. It's all about whether Amorim can get these guys mentally locked in, not just riding on history

Manchester United and Lyon track records in their respective domestic competitions cannot be used as a complete benchmark, because in the Europa League both teams have performed differently this season. With the various problems that Manchester United is currently facing, I also feel that Lyon has an equally big chance of winning. To further analyze the strengths of Manchester United and Lyon, their next domestic matches may provide a better picture.

Before the two teams face each other in the Europa League, Manchester United is first scheduled to host Manchester City, while Lyon will host Lille. This tough match will certainly drain their energy and mind, so it can affect their chances in the quarter final match later. Ruben Amorim is currently still missing 7 players due to injury, this is certainly an advantage for Lyon.

They just might be getting lucky and getting away due to the fixtures they’ve got but then, I wouldn’t really say Athletic club isn’t a strong one. With the William brothers still very much on the field of play, Athletic club is one team that I can confidently say, they could kick Manchester United out of the Europa if they do meet. I watch them play in Spain and they are one of the best teams to bet on not against.

I'm not going to lie, I'm intrigued with the EPL fixtures and outstanding performance exhibited by these players. While concentrated on domestic league when the main league is up and running. There's probably nothing wrong with these big games. The Europa is not the only target for Ruben Amorim but he needs to start showing evidence as a competent manager suitable for the club. You don't believe Manchester united will eliminate Marseille Lyonnais from the europa league. We've known odds for Manchester United to reach the UEFA Champions League.

True. Man United was very experienced in international matches, but they have no much experienced players for international matches such as Europa league nowadays. Most players couldn't play with their best form in domestic competition during this season. So, we don't expect much for Man United to be the champion in Europa league. However, I'm sure they are strong enough to beat Lyon. Lyon is also not in their best form this season. They are only in 7th place in Ligue 1 so far. Honestly, I only guess that Man United will survive until semi-final round. For the final round, it seems a bit difficult for Man United because they must play against stronger teams in the next round.

Maybe there is a little truth here that experience can help somewhat in qualifying, but in my opinion, if the performance is not good, then one will never be able to qualify. By the way, I didn't mention Real Madrid here, you made a slight mistake in that regard. So, I believe that they are more focused on winning this league so that they can play in UCL next season. It seems that the EPL is too tough for United so they're more focus on other competitions for a trophy.
