I still view the AI as a development of search engines which are merely reflecting what people have written.    The efficiency of results and information I appreciate but the cognitive power of these bots is over done for some time yet.   Most of the power in this area is the speed and ordering of information still very useful but they dont comprehend perfectly all data surely.
  
There is no bubble to pop in my view because we arent talking about an inflated idea without a sound basis.   AI even if you dislike it has gigantic potential to enable technology for those most uneducated which is us the common public.

  I hear great things for AI in medical usage just scanning massive amounts of data for cancer diagnosis, some how these machines out rank experienced doctors for results and and accuracy in finding cancer; just that 1 sentence alone should be enough to stop all doubts.
  Who cares who is winning right now for best product, it doesnt matter who or what company is winning the battle this week month or year the race itself across all competitors is most important, humanity needs this technology from every and all sources is my basic conclusion.

I guess you might be surprised here.
Ai models, as in generative models, already surpass what they are trained in when generating new images.
LLM can provide new answers, based on what they are trained on.
On the Italian newspapers a couple of days ago, surfaced a news about an AI having developed some sort of new medicine for I don’t know which disease.
In short: don’t be so complacent about this.

IMHO there is a bubble to pop and that's with the valuation of these companies that are in development of AI.

Some are way too high in their valuation for their start as they want to raise funds for future development. But it's true, that there is a big role that they're going to play for everyone's sake.

The application that it has already been doing to several companies is visible but about reliability, we don't know yet.

Italian newspaper Il Foglio has used AI to produce world's first AI generated edition of newspaper. This is first of it's kind and newspaper says it has used AI to do everything like the writing, the headlines etc. After a week of experiment the newspaper has published the first assessment of it's AI edition and to summerize they say for newspaper we still need humans. It's just the beginning and may be after 2 to 3 years when the technology gets more matured we can have AI models that will replace humans to write newspaper.

well, china is currently facing bottleneck, that is, they have good researches and so on, but US put restriction on GPU export and as a result china is stuck with old GPU models.
I think it will play a big role in the long run because the slower the GPU, the longer training it takes, so basically you might be few years fall behind just from this alone.

the only reason why china is so invested on creating their own GPU right now with company called moore thread although there's virtually zero people willing to buy it.

With the rapid development of AI field, they are facing fierce competition from AMD, Intel, Google, Amazon, and Microsoft, restricting chip export will not benefit their revenue.  Sooner or later, export restrictions will have to be lifted because the Chinese market has always been considered a huge consumer market.

Where do you get the information that the US is trying to ban deepseek? Microsoft and Apple have even collaborated and considered integrating it into their products. More notably, President Trump has also acknowledged the development of deepseek.

If they ban deepseek it just shows their incompetence it's not a fair competition and i don't think trump would do something stupid like that.

Well, I've even bet on the forum that Trump would win and have argued that he was a better (or much less bad) choice than the alternative but I wouldn't bet too heavily on a politician not doing something stupid, especially not in the case of Trump.

It is ironic that the whole world has recognized the development of Deepseek as a turning point in the field of AI development when they can create products at a cheaper cost but still ensure quality. Even President Trump acknowledged Deepseek and considered it a wake-up call for the United States, and he urged the domestic AI industry to focus more on creating superior products to compete instead of badmouthing each other.

Not to mention, since its launch, deepseek has received a lot of attention from the world community and has become the most successful AI application with the largest number of users. But there are still some people who do not want to admit that fact while competition is bringing great benefits to consumers.

which to me is pretty reasonable honestly.

but microsoft and apple or whatever it is aren't really integrating deepseek by doing collaboration or anything.
they literally can just pull model from huggingface and call it a day since it's open source and anyone is free to do anyhting with the LLM model.

this is the reason why deep seek gonna be hard to eliminate, they make it available open source to make other looks too expensive.

With Deepseek release there is change in mindset that emerging technologies like AI needs high computing resources. The Deepseek stance is that new AI products does not necessarily require expensive and high computing devices like GPUs. Ever since Deepseek has released it's model towards end of Jan 2025, we are seeing gradual decrease in stock price of NVIDIA (the largest producer of GPUs for AI computation). On Jan 24, 2025 NVIDIA stock price was 142$ and as of today it's down to 109$.

Instead of trying to compete against China, why won't the US make a partnership? Both countries can work together to help improve AI tech for the better. If the world wasn't "isolationist" (or multi-polar), it would've been a better place by now. This AI-war is non-sense to me. I mean, the tech is pretty overhyped these days.

Why care about who has the best AI tech, anyways? Despite AI's rising popularity, it's still in its infancy. Neither Deepseek nor ChatGPT are self-aware yet. We can feel confident it won't pose a threat to humanity in the time-being. Let's see how long the Deepseek hype lasts.
