Should we advocate for more merit source

I greet the house specially and I hope everyone dey alright. Abeg make una pardon me if such message has been dropped here before but I believe it is worth talking about.

Honestly I have taking some time to go across this our board and I have actually seen some posts wey make sense but did not receive any merit.
Let's be honest if person take out time to make good post and the post actually make sense it can serve as an encouragement to that person if they get at least a merit as a sign of recognition.

This our local board will really grow high if Nigerian see that their post made here gets recognition.

We have some handful of merit source even though there is no amount of merit source that will be enough for meriting quality post on the local board.

It's one thing to even request for a merit source and another for the request to be granted by thymos. Maybe what we should rather be looking out for is means through the current merit source and others that are not merit source but still give out merit will be more focused on meriting the best of the quality post and any other one that's of quality and yet not merited can be reported to merit source for such post to be merited. Lately, the quality of post on the local board have even dropped to a large extent and this can in a way be attributed to the this issue of merit not flowing that well on the local board.

But then, merit source can't give out merit above what they have been allocated. Once they have exhausted the allocation for the week, I guess regardless of the quality of post, they will have to wait till they are fed with more sendables before they can start meriting post again. Just my take.

There are lots of meaningful posts around, the moderator is surely doing his best ranking up accounts and  meriting posts he sees worthy. Surely he cannot do everything alone and needs more helping hands.

Personally I believe we need more merit sources for our local board. Cryptoprenueurbrainboss helps a lot too, maybe we can jointly ask Theymos to increase his merit allocation and possibly add more 1 or 2 merit sources as that would really boost the engagement here.

Our local board is like our home ground, where we are supposed to earn merit easily, even though the merit we earn in a week is not plenty, but as far as a member is fully active in a week, contributing to the local board in a meaningful way, that member should be guaranteed to earn at least one merit in our local board, but such a thing doesn't happen very often in our local, so I think we need to advocate for more merit sources to help Igebotz and CryptopreneurBrainboss in giving merit to posts that solve problems in our local board.

Brainboss applied for merit for altcoins board and he was given, but is he disturbing the merit there anymore? No, but he focused more on Nigerians. After Igebotz, CryptopreneurBrainboss is the second merit sender on this local board, although I am surprised that he did not send me any merit since many months ago.

If you are from a local board and you are a merit source and sending merits to your people, that is enough to know that the person will be counted among as a merit source.

If not counting Brianboss among the merit source here, that is not an accurate information.

Here is another post about post quality on the local board.... Hmmmm what can actually be said ? To start with merit circulation on this board is very odd and bias. Ranking up on the local board ought to be easy just like other local boards do but it's not what's happening here. Merit circulation is more than actual meriting of quality posts and that's factual.

We need more merit sources on the board and not additional allocation to existing sources because frankly speaking it wouldn't change any damn thing. Outside this board many Naija members are regarded as low quality posters because of the way merit is earned.

I have the same sentiment with you on this regard, while the merits source can stand as a mother hen individuals also have the liberty to discharge their smerits at the sight of a quality post that worth their smerits, that is to say even while we are advocating for more merits source or probably advocating for merit sources smerits allocation increments we ourselves also have an important role to play because there is no restriction or limitations towards given out merit to only merit sources, yes we can encourage ourselves and get the best.

It's not about advocating for more merit sources, is the head admin. approving the pending ones that has already been tendered? That is the problem because we can only support those who wish to become merit sources but we can't force administrator to approve them.

Am not worried about how anyone spend their smerits, be it merit sources or ordinary members without a source but I want to let you all know that the growth of the local board is based on collective efforts and not by a single entity therefore, who ever that is given the privilege to manage the affairs of the local board should do it without bias or favoritism. If all of us decide not to post in the local board it will become questionable. In all, one good turn deserves another. If you see any posts with quality, merit them without waiting for the merit source(s) to do so first.

I even suggest that a thread should be created, where we can report quality posts for meriting by anyone.

At this junction all I am going to say is, the same problem happening in the country that we all are complaining about is gradually happening in the forum. Let us take it as it is now because it looks like having more merit sources wont really change anything unless there is someone to prove me otherwise. In the case of @Brainboss he owes no obligation to the LB by right as he was meant to be merit the altcoin board regardless he still give among the LB.

It is true we are in desperate need of more merit sources, having just 1 or 2 as Charles-Tim stated is not enough either. And as for those who will be giving opportunity to be a merit source in the future, always remember that he who much is giving much is expected. Now we are all in agony, pleading for merit source, let it not be that when we vote and our wish come true by @Theymos to granted more merit source we will still be complaining about the same thing over and over again.

Waiting u want make I talk nah, the merit source them get their other life outside the forum even for the forum they also get other activities, normally when you apply to be merit source you suppose take am say nah extra work you carry give you self so, but no be the way eh be for here.. you fit drop post and application for merit rank up thread make eh take forever be source no near that thread, that one no be to show say the person busy??

That’s very correct. Our two active merit sources on the local board of their allocated Smerit are put together; combine it – it’s not up to 400 monthly allocation, which is small for a board as large as Nigeria's local board – but something can still be achieved with it here if they are active.

Very good observation from you op this shows that a lot of people have noticed the level of scarcity of merits in the Nigerian Local Board, now to answer your question which is the most important thing I think having applications for more merits sources is good and from my observation we have pending merit source application which is waiting for approval from Theymos.

In the main time I think what we ought to do right now is to advocate for the increasement of merit allocation for the two people we have as merit source right now, Igebotz is our local board moderator and also the only local board merit source I don't know how many merit allocation he gets monthly but I think he's allocation is small that's why we are not seeing merits as we ought to see in the local board also Brainboss is a general local board he was the only person that was carrying the local board along before Igebotz came onboard I believe his allocation needs to be increased too so that the local board will have quality post merited while we wait for the application of other merit sources to be approved.

Right now I think everyone in the local board should take it as a responsibility to merit any quality post they come across once you have some xmerit to spend you don't have to wait for your local board merit source to notice every good post before it can be merited in other words the merit sources should always not expect the post to merit themselves they should be able to work and merit good post because that is the primary reason why they were given the merits and the mandate.

True talk, not only recognizing the persons effort, but that post will also teach others about that topic the person speaks on,we all know that when a post is merited,we derive knowledge from that because we see it as a good post and educative. A little share will not end your merit.

A thread was created for meriting unmerited posts that deserve merits, It's been a while since any post was merited from that thread, moderator said a new thread will be started, but until now he hasn't updated a new thread. The moderator have been moderatomg from his own strength, but it can't be enough to load all quality posts from new threads to discussions, he needs a second hand to help out.

Quality of posts also depends on the eyes of the seer, we can advocate for another merit source instead of requesting for increase, one quality post worth meriting from Igebotz may not be quality enough to some other moderator, having two to serve one purpose will be better to match all quality posts for merit.

Some posts are not awarded merit for various reasons; one of them could be that the merit sources we currently have in the LB do not have sufficient merit at that point to distribute or award to all the posts they deemed merit-worthy.

Another reason can be that the post you think of and consider as merit-worthy may not be merit-worthy to the merit sources, and it is within their rights to distribute the merits at their discretion.

More merit sources are, of course, needed, but the argument to get that should never be that the already existing merit sources we have in this LB are being biased in distribution because that will be false, or that they are ignoring some merit-worthy post.

More merit sources are needed to be able to meet up with the demand. Nigerians are active and deserving of merits.
