If everything stays as it is, well... World War III hasn't started yet, but for now there are three direct conflicts:

USA + Israel vs. Iran.
It's a peripheral war (a major power is involved — that's clear), but still peripheral.

In the big picture, two major players are involved, but in different parts of the globe:

USA vs. Iran

It's not a world war yet, though we're on the edge — I'm holding back judgment.

I don't think this is the beginning of World War 3. China and Russia have not indicated any interest in helping their ally Iran. Russia is preoccupied with its war with Ukraine, while China is focusing on its economic war with the US. I guess they are avoiding direct war with the US. Maybe they might assist Iran indirectly. The outcome of this attack on Iran is just unpredictable.

i dont see china/russia as "ally's" in the same respect as how nato are allys of europe
i see china/russia as just trade partners of iran.. and unless wars cause chaos to their trade, they wont want to get involved in escalating wars

also to note:
the majority of countries want peace or atleast non nuclear wars.
iran also had stockpiles of 2000 ballistic missiles in spring.. have launched 520 of them so far (495 destructed mid-air, 25 hit isreali sites)
many countries know iran will have o come to a peace agreement at some point and it wont take long until the other <1500 ballistics are used up, leaving iran no other choice but come to peace

the sooner the better
if iran agreed to peace. they could actually have sanctions removed and start to economically prosper and help other trade partners prosper.. so over all, continuing the war helps no one

If Trump actually care more about avoiding any actions that could lead to a ww3 I am very sure he wouldn't have taken such disastrous action on Iran but would have stayed within her indirect support position to Israel just in the manner that China and Russia who are Iran's allies are doing/maintaining their limits of intervention.

Russia relied on Iran for military equipment during the early stage of the Ukraine invasion until it increased its local capacity to produce. I think Iran will be disappointed that Russia is playing to the gallery instead of showing signs that they are behind them.

Trump is an emperor. Republicans control the Congress making him to command so much powers. He is not accountable to any institution not even the courts.

trump is just one man. when you realise he has a cabinet and pentagon full of advisers. he delegates tasks to those that know best.

They are only threatening USA verbally. The same goes for Russia and China, what also indicates they were caught by surprise.

Now Iran is cornered. Their attention must be focused on the physical integrity of Khamenei, who is potentially the next target of the USA and Israel. He has already indicated possible successors.

The "axis" strategy now is to threat USA (psychological agression), claiming that if Khamenei is attacked, Pandora Box is going to be opened in the world.

I believe it's just a matter of time until this conflict escalates. There is no returning point. Both sides are too hurted to talk to each other. If some kind of peace has to happen yet, it must be on the context of the "fake peace" narrated on The Bible, which won't last long.

As it stands for now there is little to nothing Iran can do in order to retaliate those attacks and I have already seen some news about people from Iran fleeing to Pakistan and people in Tehran taking refuge in their underground basements and avoiding to go outside because of the possibility of an air strike in the capital, which would be very serious. In the mean time, there are people in the United States which are not even aware of the war going on and go to their jobs and go to sleep as if nothing was happening. Iran is full of hot air and I am sure they regret to getting nuclear bombs faster during the administration of Biden.

What Iran said, those facilities were already vacated long time ago and that's still a flex for them despite those attacks. People leaving the ground is a must and they should move from other places that are not targeted.

It's because that Iran is far from the USA and normal lives are still fine. It's just that the troops that are present there will be mostly targeted by Iran if they retaliate and do a sudden attack.

Russia and Iran are not allies, they are just military strategic partners and this relationship has become closer during the Syrian conflict. There is no relationship or commitment to military support between them, unlike the close alliance between the United States and Israel. Likewise, China is not Iran's ally, it is just a trading partner.

All three countries have conducted joint exercises in the Gulf of Oman to show strength to the United States and NATO, but unfortunately they do not have any binding alliance relationship. That is the main reason why they stay out of the war and do not provide military support to Iran.

Iran's allies are Hezbollah and Yemen.

Like seriously. I don't think that China can do that because they are not allies with Iran but only trade partners. If China has all these that you mentioned, they should have helped Russia out with their drones and wipe out NATO and the US before Trump took overpower. I believe that Isreal will finally win the war because the US is their backbone and gives them full support.

I wouldn't be so sure. Putin has threatened to help Iran get nuclear weapons.

Iran is one of the biggest suppliers of Russia in the war against Ukraine, so IMO they both need each other and if Iran can redirect the attention of the US from Ukraine it's great for Russia.

It's China that I don't see entering the conflict. Russia would, but it's spread thin in Ukraine and can't afford another war. IMO if the war escalates it will do so locally, possibly involving Egypt, Yemen and Pakistan.
