Real estate companies have being doing well and not flopping, it could be the people that are trying to be real estate investors without learning are the ones flopping but not the companies. In my country, we're getting more real estate companies being formed because land investing is a big business in my country. Everybody wants to own land and they're looking for ways that it'll be safe to own land hence when the companies are being used for buying by purchasing the land from them, it's safer than when you buy from the individual that might be claiming to be the land owner without you not knowing. I believe every adult allocate their income thos way, because this are necessary for everyone. The difference for most people is the percentage you allocate to each of them. When starting I don't think you should allocated much to luxury, rather you allocate more to investment and savings. The growth of your investment let you have more money to live a luxurious life. Yes, i think it is really good to invest the money on land. But if we  talk about the Real estate companies then not every company is good or loyal with his clients. There are a number of examples where companies do scams with innocent people and they are badly flopped. I think it's the responsibility of a common person or general clients to check before they invest.
