The only scenario I would find reasonable to take one's own life is that where you own money to a mafia and retaliation  against you and/or your family is worse than death itself, but putting yourself in that situation should be easily avoidable if you do things minimally well in life, and gambling, instead of solving the problem, can make it worse.

It is sad news the one shared by the OP and unfortunately we'll keep reading such cases in the future. May his misfortune serve as a lesson to us all.

These are the people that makes gambling looks like something that is harmful to humans. It has been said several times here that we shouldn't gambler with someone's money, because there's nothing bad than gambling with the money that doesn't belong to you but I don't know why most gamblers normally go against this things because it's some how easy to let go with your own money but it's not easy get a way with someone's money.

But even as that it has not gotten to the extent of commiting suicide knowing fully well that when there's life, there's hope you can settle the debt and still move on.

Gambling can never solve your financial problems but rather add to your problems. Regardless of your debt, you shouldn't take your life because it doesn't worth it. Death can not wave the debt, you'll leave it behind for your family to pay and still cause them emotional stress for mourning your death.

Actually, in most jurisdictions in the Americas it is not possible for people to inherit debt, if someone dies while having a significant amount of debt on their shoulders, the state is set to arrange payments with lenders, at least that is how it works in the United States. Though, I am not sure who it works in South Asia and Africa.

Though gambling is accepted as entertainment, sometimes the high addiction for it can take people to a point where no can return. We often hear that gambling leads to suicide. But those who take such a decision under the pressure of debt must realize that there is no point in losing your life, rather you are leaving the world with debt. Obviously, we are talking about a person who felt pretty much in despair and probably suffered from depression.
People underestimate how bad depression and other mental problems can be and lead people to attempt against their own life.

In spite he seemingly did what he did because of his debt and his back luck in gambling, I would bet he also presentes symptoms of depression and anxiety, which got worse through time as he accumulated more losses.

You may think it is unacceptable, but for people in depression suicide seems to be an option because they believe it will end with their suffering forever.

I don't really understand why someone will end up his or her own life because of gambling or anything, you bet a game and its got cut why can't you move on? Gambling can be very dangerous for the weak minded people. I have read stories like that many times in the past and that’s why I stopped being an ambitious gambler. I believe we all think that it is wrong to take lives due to gambling losses.  I have a strong opposition to this kind of action.  Money that has been lost can be earned again, but life's lost will never come back.  This is also one reason why immature individuals should be banned from gambling, but I know the problem lies on pinpointing who is the immature one among those gamblers above 18 or 21 years old.

I hate to say it, but these kinds of people are selfish.  They never consider their family's feelings.  They are also short-sighted because they did not realize that when they commit suicide, their family will be grieving and on top of that, the expenses on burial.  They also never think of the money spent by their parents to make them educated and help them prepare their path for their future career, only to be wasted by such an idiot decision.

A 300L university student reportedly commit suicide after losing money to gambling. From the story going viral, he was made the caretaker of the Lodge he was residing in by the landlord. He remitted just small amount of money from the money he collected from the fellow students occupying the lodge as tenants and reportedly use the remaining to gamble.

Anybody capable of thinking in this direction or doing something similar is obviously a wasted gambling addict. You don't risk money based on luck and be greedy to expect a must win because that's where frustrations like these come from and they are usually fuelled by taking overwhelming risks.

Sadly not everyone up to 18 by age is mature enough to actually think like an adult. Because no reasonable reason for someone to kill himself over a game.

This is a very sad story to be honest. Many of this case scenario has happened in the past but it is very obvious that many people don’t learn lessons from the past experience of others. He is still a university students who has a whole lots of life ahead of him to live but unfortunately he had allowed his addiction to gambling take over him and have now made it bring an end to his life. A very disturbing news am seeing here, taking you life because of gambling but this should be a very big lesson to those who sees and takes gambling as one means of making money. For the records gambling is not one means to make money instead you actually lose money in the process of gambling. This is like taking loan to gamble which is not a good thing to do, what was he thinking from the beginning when he started gambling with money that were untrusted into his hands by the landlord of the house.
