This is a very sad story to be honest. Many of this case scenario has happened in the past but it is very obvious that many people don’t learn lessons from the past experience of others. He is still a university students who has a whole lots of life ahead of him to live but unfortunately he had allowed his addiction to gambling take over him and have now made it bring an end to his life. Sometimes I just feel stories like this usually leaves the gambler in big debts and they have not used only their personal money to bet and that was why paying off those debts will be a living hell to them and they end up taking their own lives. Whatever happens, taken your own life isn’t worth it. If there’s life, there’s still hope to live and achieve bigger things.

These same things will keep om happening because a lot of people don't really learn from other people's mistakes and that's where their problem starts from. a lot of people are too desperate to make money from gambling and in the process of doing that they end up losing huge amounts of money. they usually don't see anything point in living after incurring a lot of losses but that's a poor mindset.

Some people may not pay attention to or care about financial management. But in reality, it is very important to see the amount we can afford to risk. Gambling should not be used as a solution to financial problems. However, what we often see is the opposite. If a gambler is not strong enough to handle the pressure that comes to them, what happens is indeed a desperate act to end their life. They think everything is over.

It's really unfortunate that students are addicted to gambling. Since they don't have the ability to earn a lot to gamble, they look for other ways, like borrowing and selling things. For me, students should be banned from such hobbies because they are not good hobbies if you get used to them until you are older.

I cannot relate to the message of the story, because i don't plan on taking my life for any gambling reason, not at all any reason. What did he solve for taking his life? The money he lost in gambling is still unpaid to the victims, whoever doesn't want to learn will do the hard way.

Gambling is not a source of income, whether we say it here over a hundred times, story for another will still pop of someone who commit suicide because he lost money from gambling, maintain proper gambling habit, and not worry about suicidal thoughts.

This how does the gambling really affects the persons financial and emotional state once they got addicted in too much playing gambling have the eager to earn back their losses they think lots of idea just to have a money and like the person on @OP did and still afterwards ended up losing.
But seems he apparent does not seek an idea how to escape their depression and anxiety due to losses a large sum of money in gambling and he ended up with that idea which is sad because if you can stand and have a life you can change the decision you made but he give up his life.

That could be done with pretty good accuracy, it's just that monitoring hundreds of people or even thousands playing in a casino would be very difficult, they would need a reminder system and monitor player activities directly, that would be a tough job in my opinion for the casino, and the question is also how likely are the players to hear when they are emotional? Maybe they would prefer to ignore warnings like that, even though the casino can hold their account for some time, gamblers who already have uncontrollable emotions will use another account or another casino to vent their emotions until their money runs out.

A 300L university student reportedly commit suicide after losing money to gambling. From the story going viral, he was made the caretaker of the Lodge he was residing in by the landlord. He remitted just small amount of money from the money he collected from the fellow students occupying the lodge as tenants and reportedly use the remaining to gamble.

Gambling can never solve your financial problems but rather add to your problems. Regardless of your debt, you shouldn't take your life because it doesn't worth it. Death can not wave the debt, you'll leave it behind for your family to pay and still cause them emotional stress for mourning your death.

This money combine was not upto ₦1M, if you convert that amount to dollar, it's not upto $750, please is that enough reason to commit suicide and take one's life? Somethings don't make sense no matter how they explain it to me. If the landlord found out that he has used his money, the worst that is going to happen is they can only used police on him, that's the worse and he can be bail and given a time frame to pay back the money and that's all.

I hope the police can do further investigation, things like this can come from another angle, what if the guy was murder and the gambling was used as an excuse to hide under that claim, it's possible but you know the Nigerian police are very poor with investigation, they close case immediately when they met a dead end. What if he was murder by another student that doesn't like him and somehow knows he likes gambling and the best the could do was to murder him under gambling addiction so people can't suspect them, it's very very possible.

But honestly I don't get the point we're someone will chose to take his life because of a lost bet. If they find it hard to understand that gamble is for entertainment do they also find it hard to understand that money that is lost can also be made? People should start thinking properly before they begin to do somethings. Do they just create an account and start gambling? If they don't understand what gamble is, they can make research to confirm what they are doing so that they don't regret it in the future.

I believe what is more important is self-control and being responsible.  No matter how we look at gambling, whether it is for fun or to win money, responsible gambling must take place first.  Having self-control and avoiding excessive gambling is a better way than just seeing the game as it is. The reason is that seeing the game as it is does not prevent us from getting hooked and eventually addicted to that game.

I will try to add a different perspective... It's not gambling that finished him, it's debt! Gambling was his last "way out", but he could try something else as well and fail... we don't know the full story. And if we don't know the full story, it's foolish to make any assumptions.  

It's tricky when you "go over your head", and when there is no simple way out... It would be foolish to say "don't go that way" because we want things and we want to explore what's out there, especially when we are young & strong. Some take it too far & deep, and that's not the problem as long as they can control it... But once you lose control, shit happens.

Why comparing two different countries currency here when it's totally unnecessary? The incident happened in Nigeria where people earned and spend in Naira and that money is actually a significant amount considering the country situation despite the high inflation. Even if it is $100, it's still huge amount as far as you don't have it to replace. I'm not justifying the deceased action but I'm condemning you making unnecessary comparison and making the value sounds worthless with your comparison. Different countries, different currencies and different value. Let respect that.

There's a rumour he was probably murdered but there's no evidence supporting that claim yet. There was a written note attributed to him as reported which make it easy to believe it was a suicide. His bank transaction history shows he funded his betting account with part of the money which he lost while playing Aviator as found in his betting history too. Although, these claims were made public but the evidence is yet to be made public regarding these claims as investigations are still going on to ascertain the actual cause of his death.
