In February of 2014 a lot of (lucky/risky) investors donated around $25 (some more and some less) worth of btc or NXT in hopes of helping NEM and joining the Nemesis block.  https://asktom.cf/index.php?topic=440185.msg4903908#msg4903908

For those that stuck around and redeemed their coupon, they were rewarded with a launch marketcap of around $2.5 million during the first week.  That was $625 per person.  From $25 that was a whopping 25x increase on their money for patiently waiting 14 months (which is a looooooooong time in crypto years).

For some months after that launch NEM slowly drifted down as many people sold, but also the NEM developers were quietly working in the background, just as they still are.

Some 14 months after launch we can look at the marketcap today of about $63m and see that since that original launch marketcap of $2.5m, NEM has gone up ANOTHER 25x in another 14 months

One time can be an accident.  Two times means there is something there.  But if NEM repeats this growth again over the next 14 months, we can safely say that this is real.

All numbers in this post can be checked on Coinmarketcap. https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/nem/

I bought last year more then a million at 29-32 satoshis. Incredible.  Shocked

Yes.  The New Economy Movement does not disappoint.  It was clear in the beginning that this project is one of the very few golden ones.  It will continue to strive for excellent performance.

That's an average return of 25% per month over a running period of 28 months now. Very impressive indeed.

Ladies and gents, the NEM community. I would like to thank those who have supported NEM from the begging and believing with no doubt that NEM can/will change the world.

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE DEVS THE WHOLE NEM TEAM FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK. YOU GUYS HAVE DONE A WONDERFUL JOB. i HOPE THAT YOU ARE ALL PROUD OF YOURSELVES, PLEASE CONTINUE THE GREAT WORK THAT YOU HAVE BEEN DOING AND MAY THIS RECENT RISE IN XEM PRICE MOTIVATE YOU TO EVEN DO BETTER.

I would say thank you to the core community members who stuck with us, believed in us, and defended NEM when it mattered. The journey has been difficult amidst strong claimed competition and naysayers while the devs delivered the solution.

There will be more naysayers as we move along. NEM has been too long under the radar but our perseverance is paying off.

Being a critical person and with all the experience I have, I have no doubt that NEM is the best vertical in its class. Few will realise that and many will adopt the use of the NEM tech in time to come.

The voyage has just begun.

Yes I agree, hats off to the devs & all the NEM team!

Has the silver coin idea been permanently put to bed by now or is it waiting for some asset exchange action?

A little sad I ditched my supernode and sold 2M XEM. Yeah, I made money on the rise of Ether instead, but I would've made more with NEM.
Every time I've sold XEM it's been a mistake. Now I'm locking down my 1M and not touching it for a very long time. I'll be keeping an active eye on development and possibly "buying the dip" to get back to 1.5M again (which was my initial stake from the ICO).

Seriously, I am so impressed with what everyone involved with NEM has accomplished. So happy to be a part of this exciting movement, technology, and business. I feel as though it couldn't be in better hands. The potential that I felt that Bitshares had but failed to live up to, I found in NEM instead. Great leadership is key, that much I've learned.

It is neither. As you know NEM is always prudent with the things it does. We are not ready yet as we need to make sure that we have the right governance in managing this.

So, we are still looking at how to do this, especially you know how hard it is to manage physical assets in a decentralised cyber set up like ours.

It's a fun idea but perhaps its time has passed. I can imagine quite a few original stakeholders might be long gone by now. Would you open up sales to allcomers?

NEM got me through rough spots in my life and even funded part of my education.

I still held on to a large part of my stake and now NEM is doing it again.

Thanks  Cool

Personally I'd wait until NEM has an AE so those silver coins can be issued as mosaics and redeemed or sold. This would of course mean that it wouldn't happen for another while but it seems like the most logical way to do it at least to me.
Technically they could be issued right now since mosaics are already in place but without an AE it seems rather point less. Of course it would be totally fine for people that want to redeem i.e. get that physical silver coin.

I realize that this does not solve the governance issue.

Another thing to consider is that there is probably a good chunk of original stake holders that no longer have access to their original account. I wonder if it's even worth to issue mosaics to those accounts. I guess it wouldn't really matter but I still somehow feel like that would be a shame. No biggie - just something to consider imho.
