Looking forward towards the fork thanks devs for all the hard work.

Have started a new MAGI pool!

Auto payouts 3 MAGI

Thanks!

Seems to be very unreliable. Would not recommend.

honest i would like to hear fron the pool owners. so far they have been nothing but quiet about the whole thing.

Pool owners cant do anything about it and its not they fault Smiley just like bittrex cant do anything about ppl trying to lower price of magi by buying lower bids instead of higher ones so they are loosing small amounts of money in hope they will bring price down to 6-7k satoshis to buy and pump again, they are ready to crush magi one day completely just to earn they daily bag of peanuts. Magi finally has some worth and where is worth there is greed unfortunately Smiley

sorry i dont buy that. about the pools cant do anything about it.

if speed limiting pools can ban/block high hashers. other pools can to0.

they dont need pools they can just solomine and situation will be the same for small miners

unfortunately that is where the flaw is in this coin

they say it is ment to be energy efficient, etc. and be the best coin out. yet nothing is done about the high hashrates which destroys it.

i was all gun ho for this coin when i started almost a month ago. but after all this cr*p i'm no impressed by it at all. the current framework, etc. doesnt protect it and make the coin proud.

im only a little fish in the sea like many others, but whales need to be shot down.

Dont get me wrong the developers have done a great job and effort, etc. but seriously it needs a major step forward in how it handles the whales.

I've been watching/mining this coin for a long, long time.  It's interesting to see how it's playing out.

The concept of it's reward being driven by the net hash rate seemed interesting, but i wasn't convinced it would work out the way it was meant to.

I always felt like it was going to have trouble because a crytpocoin cannot survive without people mining it... and limiting hashrate seemed counterproductive.

That said... the coin seems to have been fairly successful.  More than I would have imagined anyway.

I don't think there is any real way to limit hashrate the way you want it to. If the coin is profitable enough, people will figure out a way to mine it.  You aren't going to stop whales.  The coin seems to be working as it was intended.  Whales hit the coin and the reward plummets.  They aren't going to stick around long if it is not profitable.  The whales will move the hashrate to Monero or something more profitable.

Just give it a little time.

Whatever you might say, at this rate it becomes pointless for small miners; I really like this coin and I've been involved since the first day, but things have changed a lot ever since... I've tried mining it for a day with ~400kh/s and all i got is 0.28xmg , so i guess it's really time to move on...  Sad
Any suggestion for a good CPU coin ??

Well it's pointless for the whales at this reward level too... right?!

Whales are not going to waste hashes on super small rewards for very long.  It would make a lot more money for a whale to switch to Monero at this point.  And it will happen.  Be patient.

The application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the Application's Support Team for more information.

The new update stops syncing with the network, after a while, with this error.

Please help.

I have server with 2 x  E5640  @ 2.67GHz and it makes about 100KH (accepted: 284/286 (99.30%), 92.69 khash/s (yay!!!));
with current diff i makes about 0.15 XMG/day, BUT one pool (xmg.minerclaim.net) is down and when the admins bring it back the profit will be down to 0.08-0.1 XMG/day

...You would think this would be the case, but history proves otherwise.  We've had the whales interrupting the reward system for well over a year now, they never left but they did appear to implement a script that allowed automatic changing of hash rates and gamed the difficulty system so they are the only ones profiting.  Give it a few days and you'll see it begin again.

Solutions offered up so far of limiting hash rate on the pools can be implemented but will not work because that does not control the global hash rate which is the determining factor.  It only takes ONE large whale solo mining or using their own private pool to completely circumvent this limit and fully manipulate the hash rate and reward system.

Magi has been limited to CPU mining for the majority of us, but there are rumors that a GPU miner or possibly an ASIC miner has been available for quite some time, I would not doubt this is true but I have no evidence of this so don't ask me, it's just a rumor afaik.  But botnets are permitted and can't be prevented - results are the same.

Unless some sort of hash rate restriction / rule can be implemented into the wallet - likely a major rewrite of the code - then my only suggestion going forward would be to go "green" and remove POW and just make this a POS coin.  The purpose of this coin was to be fair and available to all - that's been ruined by a few people - but could we fix this by going full POS with the side effect of being more environmentally friendly?

I've been mining and buying Magi from the beginning, collected quite a few coins over the years, and have been a strong supporter but this is a crossroad and I would really like to see some progress towards making this coin useful in the real world.  And, considering the issues we've been through this last 12 months with 2 major network outages and the mining rewards are still being manipulated, I took advantage of the rather large Pump last week and unloaded my supply.  I believe the prices will drop back to what they were, and I'd love to get back in at that time if the above issues have been resolved.

What do you guys think?  Is the Proof of Stake only option a viable alternative?

Hmm it's seems like a very low profit. Why you mine it then? You can mine other cpu things and buy MAGI from exchange. 1 magi is $1.47 now so you're making 23 cents profit a day? Cpus consume more electricity for sure!

Yeah, the reward for now is just ridiculous, and I don't really understand why there is so much hashing power now compared to before the attack and the hard-fork.

However, I set my RPI3 up, it's running, it's mining @10Kh/s, it doesn't use a lot of electricity and I also use it for some little experiments. It's a 'set up and forget' installation.
For now, it pays nothing, but maybe things will improve in some days or weeks Smiley

I think it's against the phylosophy of the coin to mine using big, expensive and powerful rigs, and I'm totally OK with that.
And from what I understand, those big miners will eventually leave because of the low rewards.

Better to play the long game with Magi and wait it out - if there is too much hash the heavy hitters will get bored...
