I hear bitfury selling dev batch of their version 2 chip, few weeks ago, looks like they're going to come out before FC gen 3

Wont even compare to AM gen3. It is still using 55nm iirc.

I thought the (smaller NM is better) argument was finally dead... j/ghps is what matters.  Friedcat has shown you can win with older hardware if you optimize it right.

You're right but it looks like only a minor revision of gen1 bitfurys.

3GH achieved at 0.62W/GH and 0.81V per chip, but a full string (@12V) requires a bit more current and will rise to 0.75W/GH
I have not pushed the chip yet to higher voltage and clocks

I have been meaning to research the reason, but Washington state has really REALLY cheep electricity.

I am currently looking into this, but so far the $0.02 seem to be a mystery. Maybe "Dave from Bitfury USA" can comment  Grin

http://www.eia.gov/state/print.cfm?sid=WA

Nov-13

Electricity    Washington
Residential    8.70 cents/kWh
Commercial    7.95 cents/kWh
Industrial    4.49 cents/kWh

I have been meaning to research the reason, but Washington state has really REALLY cheep electricity.  Even with air cooling he can run those things far longer then most people could afford to.

The reason is great conditions for hydroelectric power (Grand Coulee Dam, etc.).

It's amazing to me that the we are still in the .6's, 1600PH of Gen3 on it's way.  That's 40 x the current hash power of the entire bitcoin network.

Take a moment to digest that.

Please note that the total hashing power of gen 3 won't be online at once. And we don't know how fast the entire network hashing power grows.

If I would have sold at the high, and bought at the low, I would be a board member... oh well... I never saw the drop down to .2 coming... but I was blinded by greed.
