I like your analysis. That's so true. Dumper will dump whenever. Even the airdrop is only in the 12th round, there are already dumpers. I believe most of the holders who can hold until the last round do not only  hold  for getting all onions, but also for true belief. Dumpers will dump along the way. They won't wait until the last round. Those who hold until the completion of airdrop will most likely continue to hold.

That is probably true, those who will reach the very end of the 40th Airdrop will hold even further. If they will have a reason to.

But many things might come into our lives when drastic (well, i have over exaggerated with using this word) decisions need to take place, like selling ONION just to sustain our basic needs (food, accommodation, etc.). We cant put everyone in the same basket.

I agree. The holders who are currently still holding after 12 rounds will keep holding until the end. It might be that some of them will sell because something happened (just like Thang). I think most fortunes seekers have already left the building

Yes, drastic things might happen, but these are exceptions. Most of the holders will hold. As long as most holders continue supporting, a few dumpers won't affect Onion too much.

Yes, it is true that getting into the airdrop list is very difficult now because the devs are very strict. But they are strict for a reason. And that is to filter out the cheaters that are using multiple accounts to get more coins or filter out applicants who just want the dump the coins they get without regards to the project and the community. This is unfair to other members who believe and contribute so that deep onion can grow and develop and be known in the industry.

If we think about it for a moment, if we follow the rules correctly, the requirements to continually get the airdrops are very easy compared to the bounty you get when you receive your DO coins airdrops. How many coins do the airdrops participants get? Around 500 to 700 coins right? At the time of this writing, trade value of DO is $0.9, so you get around $630 per airdrop. Granted you can only spend 10% of that to keep receiving the airdrops. Or you can convert $63x4 = $252 per month. But still, you get a good investment for a very promising coin. And for what? They all just want you to make 10 (50 character) quality posts per week. Only 10 quality posts! Is that really that hard? You can make that 2 posts per day man. You can spend about 30 minutes to an hour to think about 2 quality posts. Heck, some of you spend hours watching youtube or your favorite tv shows wasting time. In DeepOnion, you just spend 30 min to 1 hour to think about a good quality post and you get around $600/week investment or $252 per month! Don't tell me you folks can't do that or that you think it is very difficulty to do. I don't believe you.

The current airdrop rules are strict, but very effective. The rules keep people who read, who care about onions, and who work hard. These people are usually  very responsible and will make contributions to onions. Those who don't read rules and directly run to apply for airdrop usually don't really care about onions. If they don't even want to read rules to participate airdrop, how can you expect them to read the roadmap, the technical details, and to help others?

I've tried everything the FAQs suggest: deleting the appdata, pasting node addresses into a config file, allowing access through my firewall and even turning it off. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm on a Windows 10 laptop with just the Windows Defender firewall and I can connect to TOR normally, so I don't think it's a matter of my service provider blocking it. Are there any ports I could forward? Anything else I can do?

You are in the right place to ask.
I had this situation before. The thing that I didn't check is my PC's time setting. It was wrong configured.

Also the config file is DeepOnion.conf. Won't work if deeponion.conf or Deeponion.conf. These things might help.

Also, I don't want to become the bearer of bad news. In case you plan for joining the airdrop, currently part of the rules, your account must be created on or before Sept. 1. But don't lose hope. Who knows.

Regarding your confirmation email: try a adress from gmail hotmail or yahoo then you should get the mail within minutes.
Other providers are causing problems as far as i know.

There is a tutorial here. After you set up everything, you need to wait for a while before the wallet starts syncing. You can see the progress bar.
