oh, that's OK then  Roll Eyes your miners MELT.

Just to be clear. I am not saying it is ok that they melt. It is a very serious problem and frankly unacceptable. However having the actual unit catch fire and light other things on fire is not possible.

I tuned into this thread again to see how the BA fire boxes were going... seems there is no shortage of smoke or fire and that these units are probably the worst miners ever made. Lucky that you were home and awake when the units caught fire, could have been a terrible story otherwise.

 Undecided

Please note that the materials used to build these miners are fire resistant. The worst they can do is melt, which is what is show in the pictures above.

oh, that's OK then  Roll Eyes your miners MELT.

Like a Nuclear reactor!!!!  Roll Eyes

and if it ever does, what will be your statement then? i'm unsure if your statement above shows ignorance, lack of knowledge, or simple criminal negligence.
You know who i fear for? it's those people who have received units and have listed them on ebay, knowing full well that by doing so, they are endangering the lives of those who buy them. Just as Black Arrow have endangered the lives of those who purchased from them in the first place.

if there is propensity for the units' parts to melt, then there is also propensity for them to set on fire. the pictures already posted on this thread show scorch marks, and not melted components. Scorch marks are an after effect of overheating, as are flames. I will go so far to say that your ignorance is deceiving people into thinking that there is no way these units will ever produce a flame when they overheat. I will also go so far to say, that the propensity to catch fire, is there.

you cannot spin it any other way - The overheating of components HAS the propensity to catch fire. It's as simple as that.

The guy who originally had the fire was due to the blown caps.  They removed the caps from shipping units.  The current reason the units burn out is apparently due to a bad mosfet that causes a short which then melts the connector between the hash board and the backplane.  The components here aren't "burning".

In truth, any electronic component can catch on fire.  Take some lighter fluid and pour it into the case and toss a match in there.  Flames!

Ultimately what David was saying is that the internals do not create flames.  They do however release toxic fumes that will cause you to grow a third eye on the palm of your hand.  Which is fun at parties...

An electric heater cannot catch fire. However, it can START one. Same goes for anything else if it gets hot enough, including a badly designed miner.

Thank you!

What complete tools these people are. No, wait - tools can be useful. They are mites on a flea on a pimple on an abscess on a baboon's ass.

Wear that negative rating by BA as a badge of honor. It's not like anyone in their right mind would have them in their trusted ratings network.

Great thread btw - I wish it had been around when I ordered my 3 X-1s from BA in November 2013 (and still haven't received, of course - not that I want them at this point).

I would have posted my thanks directly there (to bump the thread, too), but it's locked.

That is a good indication that what I published really affects who is behind blackarrow forum user. Otherwise, why would anyone be so concerned with a buried thread published 106 days ago when there are more important matters to solve? I mean, while there are countless customers issues to be addressed, leave negative feedback for an inactive forum user is top priority!

Sent you a positive trust rating to help counter balance the BA crap.

My X1 order from Minersource is 1 year old next month, still waiting for the promised refund. I'll be contacting the local police department waited long enough and gave them plenty of chances to send a refund.

Not so much gloating, but showing them how much better their competition is. I find it amusing I have to use a competitors hardware to get the bitcoins back I used to purchase their crap hardware.
