In the light of rumors some main exchanges data leak I am curious about bittrex clients personal data safety..
As we know bittrex forced its customers to KYC even if they have low amount of crypto - but are bittrex exchange really able to protect our data?

this is what i have been saying for the past year when they asked me for my personal info..theres something not right about this exchange anymore ~ just connect the dots to cryptopia and it will become clear !  Roll Eyes  i want my coins back now !!!

It was only a matter of time before they would actually starts asking for verification, Bittrex international is obviously under EU law so no surprises there.

Giving your personal details is not a good idea but we talk about the big crypto exchange that has rules by regulators. I passed their KYC less than 15 mins but it looks like some people still have a problem with their management.

KYC is a tedious process that the DEXes don't have, so why stick with Bittrex, Coinbase & co ?

Many people have trouble even completing it and lose their coins for that, which is a shame : https://steemit.com/bittrex/@billynoe79/bittrex-kyc-policy

I've had enough of these "regulations".

I think I'll give a try to Waves DEX , 0x and other DEXes

Is 0x a DEX for ETH-based tokens only?
Are there any other good DEXes?

After failing for its first IEO, Bittrex will try again on April 2nd :

https://coinvize.com/altcoins/bittrex-after-failing-its-first-ieo-second-attempt-coming-on-april-2nd/

"The project to be presented is VeriBlock, a block-chain startup working on the development of the proof-of-proof protocol, which is claimed to add an additional layer of security to existing block chains such as Bitcoin.

However, Bittrex notes that its CEO Bill Shihara is an advisor to VeriBlock, while its company also holds a minority stake in affiliate sponsor VeriBlock. For these reasons, Bittrex will indirectly benefit from the successful completion of the IEO.
...
Each VBK coin is offered for approximately $0.10 (subject to change), while users have limited their orders to a minimum of $10 turnover and a maximum of $20,000. Orders in excess of this amount would have to pass through the OTC counter of the Exchange and would be subject to the rules governing such transactions."

Try:

-pinging them through their live chat
-pinging them through their official Twitter handle (mentioning)
-creating another ticket asking for a reply to the original one

Bittrex doesn't provide any support here at Bitcointalk forums - so it's useless to post here about your ticket.

They are not active in this forum anymore. if you look at their account its not as active as it used to be. however, they are somewhat responsive in Twitter. Here are the Twitter user names of the known admins of Bittrex

How about them f*cking everyone over with random KYC policy implementations no one had ever heard about right up until the moment they were suddenly implemented? I guess everyone already forgot about that.

(Yes this is from the /r/btc subreddit, i know, https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/77t1d2/bittrex_extortionist_tactics_should_you_refuse_to/ but it shows how scummy they were.)

No one should ever use this exchange, ever.

I wonder why this exchange is still popular here and to newbies but if you look how this exchange is ranked, its currently at number 60 out of 100 based on the reported volume. I admit I am still using this platform but with all the complaints coming from different directions, I am having second thoughts on continuing on using this trading platform.

There's a huge difference in real trade volume and fake (wash) trade volume. Bittrex might be at the rank no.60 according to CoinMarketCap's reported (trading) volume, however, if you really take a good look at the exchanges above Bittrex, you'll notice that most of them are known for wash trading. For example: LBank, DigiFinex, BitForex, BW.com, Coineal, and CoinBene, all of these are in the "TOP 10", which is hilarious IMO.

I can confidently remark Bittrex's volume as real, and one of the top 20 (legitimate) exchanges that are not involved in wash-trading.

Even Binance is currently at the rank no. 7 (according to CMC rank), and CZ explained this situation (yesterday) in a nice manner:

Well, I am not the biggest Bittrex-fan either, don´t like the high (in comparison) trading-fees and these ever changing KYC-requirement-phases, but I believe that comes from regulations and I also believe with regulations crypto will stay "wild wild west" and won´t ever become interesting to the majority.

They´ve earned some merits at least.

Not just because: https://twitter.com/BitwiseInvest/status/1109114665240616962

Bittrex is one of the few exchange that shows real trading volume. Unlike those other exchange that belong to top20 that only shows wash trading and fake volume to get to their current rank.

Bittrex is one of the few exchange that shows real trading volume.

Bittrex is also one of the few exchangers that never ask or give any notice to it's clients if they want to get verified or not.
Instead they take a decision by themselves and "disable" clients accounts.

I read a lot about this complaint and sure is, turning off or disabling an account without notice and worst is without explanation will really turn away users and look for another trading platform. KYC is a big issue to everyone but I guess all exchanges will go to that direction. They may not implement it now but sooner or later they will.

The thing is that my point isn't about the KYC and it's implementation from all the exchangers. Sooner or later all of them will have to comply, even if we most of us don't like it as clients.
My point was that the exchanger should give to their client the option to withdraw his funds before the KYC being a mandatory to even have funds/assets there. Not after.
So now, if you want to withdraw your assets from there, you will have to get verified. If not, then you can say "goodbye" to your funds... Undecided

That is one sneaky move, They can implement KYC as much as they want but for all those users don't want to share their private information should have given a chance to withdraw all his coins and then close his account.
