I was nervous to test it also. I suppose you could just send an over 50,000 trans to another one of your own Octo addresses in the wallet. The thing is when you send a trans from one address to another address in the Octo wallet it shows the transaction as in wallet and it doesn't appear like the network sees it.

We will def test and make sure before the burn starts. And if someone tests it and things get stuck it's not like we wouldn't take care of them in the burn. We just would want it to be one person. There's no date on the warning and some people said they have sent over 50,000. I also think that people withdrawing from bittrex would've had that issue cuz some were withdrawing over 50,000. I think we are good but never hurts to double check.

And it's not like we can't afford multiple transactions from people. Robert said like 1000 trans only = .06 BTC.

It's more of a work load in dealing with more transactions than we have to.

Well I would say we can start the burn soon. The only reason I'm not wanting to start it this week is because between finishing up my last week at work, packing friday, family stuff saturday and driving to Florida and getting settled Sunday and Monday I'll be too busy to monitor any of this stuff.

It really isn't an issue, I have sent just over 1 million back and forth several times over the last few weeks. I'm getting bored playing with them, want to do something constructive (yet destructive) with them.

Thanks for verifying. I understand the hurry but remember, we don't want a mess where everyone's transactions are stuck then we aren't doing a true burn.

But yeah, if it's good to go we'll start it soon. Depending on when we can monitor and record the incoming transactions. I'm not against even starting it once I arrive in Florida around and get settled in around the 3rd. I just don't want anything to go wrong for anyone and me not be available due to driving, unpacking and such. People will not have patience if Octo stuck in limbo or any other craziness goes down and someone isn't available to work it.

If anyone wants to volunteer i'm not against starting sooner. Just remember, I really won't be available much at all from Friday-Monday due to moving. I will probably be on the FoldingCoin call at 3 PM EST Sunday because I'll take a break from driving to sit in on the call over wifi.

Step 5 - Once the block explorer and the burn address has been verified and working by this community, then a deadline will be announced to send the 888 from your wallet in Step 2 to the burn address to receive the new Counterparty OCTO asset. The deadline will be 1 month after the explorer and the burn address have been announced.

DO NOT SEND ANY 888 UNTIL THE BLOCK EXPLORER, THE BURN ADDRESS, AND THE DEADLINE HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED. AWAIT FOR FRAMELALIFE TO CONFIRM THAT THESE FACTORS ARE OFFICIAL AND ESTABLISHED, DO NOT TAKE THE WORD OF ANY OTHER USERNAME AT THIS TIME

Step 6 - Once Midnight on the deadline is hit, the 888 block explorer will be captured fully with the accurate information regarding the 888 wallet locations at the exact deadline time (this will then be available to the public to view). You must have sent your 888 to the burn address BEFORE the deadline has been hit. So any amount of 888 created after the burn will not be considered a valid exchange since it will be officially moved over.

Step 7 - After the block explorer has been fully captured, then 2 days will pass to allow time for any discrepancies to be established from the Octo community with the amount of OCTO they will receive. During these two days, frameLAlife and FoldingCoin (Kris and Robert) will be uploading a new column to the publically viewable google doc with the exact amount of OCTO each person will receive who sent 888 to the burn address.

Step 8 - After the 2 days have passed, then FoldingCoin will create a distribution address and send all the OCTO out to all participants who are partaking in the burn. this community needs to keep in mind, that for every 1 address receiving OCTO it will require 0.00006 BTC (this is not a service fee, but it is the cost of a Counterparty transaction). So If 1,000 people are participating in the burn, then 0.06 BTC will need to be provided to distribute the new OCTO funds.

Did you just download the wallet from https://octocoin.org/#downloads ?

If so, have you recently scanned your pc for viruses? Also, can you scan just that file for viruses? We do not have control of the website, the original devs or possibly another person does.

Please let us know. I have not heard of anyone else having this issue. I personally have had the second wallet PC version since it came out.

The qt.exe will take a parameter (-datadir) which specifies the data directory.  If it doesn't like your folder with Russian letters you can move your wallet and contents of your existing Octocoin data folder to a new one and then run the QT with the -datadir paramter like this;

you do not have to burn your coins. this coin will still be here. the blockchain will still be going. there are still some places to mine this blockchain. depending on how many coins are burned there will still be millions of coins left on this blockchain. i have no idea what plans other people working on this blockchain have, i'd message them if you have questions regarding that. but at the moment, anyone can come along and develop anything they want for octocoin.
