India is good team I know so many players are new but still there is some space to play well, wickets should be played well it needs practice, I think Pakistan will compete India well, 2019 world cup will go in favor of Pakistan I guess because new players are well trained and well played players..

Really? are you serious or just kidding? Pakistan has no chance to India. I don't think Pakistan will be able to be in the top 6 even. Their performance are too poor these days.

First, Shankar needs to find a place in the playing XI. He may eventually manage to find a place, as his medium pace may prove very useful in the English conditions. Pant is still young and he should take this in a positive way. I have a feeling that he'll be definitely be a part of the squad for the next world cup (2023), along with young players such as Samson, Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Dube.

My bet on this playing XI. chances are we are going to see this squad in starting phase.

2. Rohit
3. Virat
4. Shankar
5. Dhoni
6. Kedar
7.Hardik
8.Kuldeep
9.Chahal
10.Shami
11. Bumrah

4 regular bowler ( 2 seamer and 2 spinner) and 1 seamer allrounder (hardik) along with 2 batsmen cum part time bowlers ( Shankar, Kedar) this combination can work for India. Shankar can bowl 3-4 over, Kedar can act as a surprise factor, he can give 10 overs as well on his day. pandaya can bowl 5-6 over easily but would like to see him bowling atleast 8 overs average in world cup.

After that team could change according to pitch and performance.

If Opening pairs fails then KL will join the squad. Indian management can use him at number 3 as well and virat moving at number 4, we have seen this before. this will happen if Shankar fails to perform with the bat ( this looks worst scenario to me)

I am in favour of Kuldeep and chahal duo but if something goes wrong then hammer could drop on Chahal and Jadeja will take his place as a bowling allrounder, he can give 10 over easily and can do okay batting down in the lower order if situation demands.

If by any chance pitch favouring Fast bowler then Bhuvi can join the pace battery, again Chahal out in this scenario too unless kuldeep performing badly. this gives India 4 seamer option with 1 wrist spinner and part timers bowlers like Kedar jadhav and Shankar.

Dinesh kartik is last person to get in the playing XI IMHO. for this to happen KL Rahul and Vijay Shankar need to fail miserably, not a good scenario if you are Indian fan


For future India got good backup.

Prithvi, Shubham gill leading the way and list is very long and good thing is majority of new players are captain materials too. Prithvi, shubham, Shryes, Samson, Pant to name a few. I didn't mentioned fast bowlers and spinners ( India producing good pacer but lacking in producing promising wrist spinner in domestic level, hope for best that it changes in coming years)

Exactly as I mentioned. It is tough to predict how teams will perform in such a tournament under English conditions, but the general consensus is that India or England might lift the cup this year though anything can happen in such a high stakes tournament.

If I am being honest then I didn't had any other choice when picking Playing XI due to lack of tested genuine all rounder so it was my obvious choice. but Virat can surprise every one lol

Its true that Current Indian squad looking balanced but only because of Bowling unit. I don't like to compare team from different era because cricket has changed in drastic way these days due to Batsmen approach towards the game, they are more aggressive now.

Having said that, current Indian batting line up comes nowhere close to previous batting line up ( except Kohli) we should not forget that last decade was led by countless legendary bowlers. current crop of bowlers are exceptionally good around the world but still they have long way to go IMO. ( Its another long discussion that why its tough to be bowler in modern cricket)

All the merit I sent so far to anyone with the believe that they deserved it (including you). I love the community (although small), I have love for the Bitcoin too. BCCI has improved a lot during the last 2-3 years. When the businessman N Srinivasan was the president, then he did a lot of things to harm the popularity of the game. And it resulted in the relations with other cricket boards getting damaged. Things have improved now, under the CoA. The current administrative body cares a lot about the game.

You cannot be a good player if you do not love the game. This is true of any field. If you love your work and game, you can easily excel in it and achieve high levels. For sure, if you are hard worker, you will be selected in the team and money will automatically comes to you. Hope you got my point.

That looks like a very strong and experienced team. I'm not sure about you guys, but I did carefully watch Chris Gayle batting against England recently in ODIs and it seemed like he's literally better than ever these days. Combining the strength of Gayle with Holder, Bravo, Russell, and Braithwaite, it looks like they have a nice chance of actually lifting the trophy!

Agreed, the team is quite balanced with all sides, batsman, bowlers and all rounders. However, WI generally can't perform well continuously. They failed to maintain consistency which is why I don't think they can lift the trophy. Russel is a big asset for them, he is having outstanding performance in IPL, I hope it will reflect in ODI too.

WI team is always strong but their temperament is what makes them lose. They gotto learn to defend when it is required and play consistently. It would be great to see them win the world cup but I don't think it will happen.

Honestly, I don't even know who Gabriel and Nurse are. I heard of Roach before, but he seemed like a decent bowler and nothing special. West Indies stand no chance of reaching the quarters in my opinion due to the team bonding element problem that you mentioned.

2 Tested dependable batsmen : Joe Root and Captain Eoin Morgan

6 Quality genuine All rounders which is very big positive because this makes their batting line up deep, even no 10 batsman can contribute with the bat.  Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, David Willey, Tom Curran, Joe Denly ( Only weak link IMO)

3 genuine bowlers Liam Plunkett, Mark Wood, Adil Rashid  even their batting average is close to 15 as a tailenders.

And Jofra can join the squad as well.
