Should we advocate for more merit source

Thanks guys for your contributions. It's actually great to see that we all have the interest of the board at hearts and it will be beneficial for us to see that we create a positive impact on the forum in general.
And yes the current merit source has been doing a good job but i don't think they have much merit allocation compared to other local board this may be something we would look at changing in the future.

So in conclusion I think we can don't all depend on merit source so I urge all well meaning members of the board to play their part to see that the Nigerian board goes forward.

Time ke? If person no get time to dey surf forum why e go first dey fight for merit source? The truth be say we no get enough merit source for we board but, I no go lie give you say merits no dey nija board. E dey but the merits dey circulate around same sets of people and that's not encouraging.

As Normal no be by merit source dem take dey share merit. All of us for nija board we get the power to send merit give post wey we know say e sharp well well... But then you go check some people post history, na only one particular set of people dem merit dey go and we dey complain say merit no dey.  

omoor, the story about merit source and merit rewards for this our local board long shaa... If we want the talk about am base on how each individual feels about it the story go long and we no go fit finish the talk even till tomorrow.

 The dichotomy that exists in the arguments about whether or not merits the really circulate for the LB from what am seeing and reading from the different comments in this thread na base on the decibel of the individual to his distance to the merit source and rewards. Nothing more!

For me I don't know how I may act if I was a merit source but I wouldn't say I would be better or worse, and this goes to even the existing and contending merit sources for the LB. May God help us shaaa....

Let's be honest if person take out time to make good post and the post actually make sense it can serve as an encouragement to that person if they get at least a merit as a sign of recognition.

Secondly - we have the activities, but unfortunately the post quality hasn't been the same, I barely come across good posts these days and sometimes I'm forced to rollover my monthly allocation.

Lastly, if the community starts giving out merits organically to good posts, we would have enough merits - the board generates average 600-800 sent Smerits per month. I generate 10-20 unmerited good posts on this board monthly without a single merit. I'm also affected. Lol

It's not an easy responsibility to be a merit source on a board with lots of active members and I understand your position in, I actually did not have an idea of how many merit source we had but creating a post like this had really helped me understand the situation.
No one can hold you responsible because I myself I have received some merit from you on the board. And yes we need to start focusing on building the forum organically and within the rules. It is not a one man effort but a collective effort.

I think we need more merit sources to encourage those users that are stable in quality Post, for newbies to know the benefits of quality Post in this community, The two merit sources we have in the naija local board has done a great work to make quality Posters to increased to this level, If Adm can increase the numbers of merits allocation to our local board merit sources, I don't think we need another merit sources in naija local board because the two naija local merit sources will be able to have enough merits to encourage all the quality Posters in the naija local board, this is my opinion.

Increasing allocations and also increasing the number of merit source is not a bad idea, at least it’ll reduce the work load on the merit sources to go about surfing the board for good posts to be merited. More allocation of merit means more work on them to surf for good posts in my opinion as they will have more to share and will want to look for more quality posts to share them on.

If you’ve checked the monthly statistics of local boards generally in the forum, Naija local board happens to be in the top three while other local boards that are not contributing as much as the Naija local boards to the forum in activities have more allocations and more local board merit sources.

The gap is very much with other local boards and if we don’t have more allocations giving to existing merit sources or more merit sources approved, the board will continue to complain of merits. The existing merit sources are doing their best as it’s not an easy task to also take on even though they agree to do the task voluntarily.

Our moderator needs some accolades for his relentless efforts and commitment here. The job is really a tasky one and he is doing quite well, I'm a benefactor of his benevolence, I only think more merit sources added here can help lighten his burden and Yes, merit distribution is a collective process and not only left for the two merit sources alone. I believe we still need to increase the quality of posts here too so as to easily entice the merit sources or any other person to reward those posts.

I think making the next version a self-moderated thread can help so you can delete worthless posts from there and also limiting the frequency of submitting posts to once a week per user can help sanitize that place too.

It's time you get some help or talk to someone to handle small tasks you can't do, like finding good posts each month to give merits, so you don't miss your duties. I see you have a lot going on. For instance Board moderator, LB merit source, Stake Sheriff and your own personal life too. Even if you don’t say it, it’s clear you need help.

Igebotz it’s not just a merit source he’s a local board moderator which means he have the ability to delete which ever post that’s considered to be spam their is no point in make it self moderated thread, better still even if he get the old thread unlocked he can still skip any post which is not worth meriting and give merit to those that deserve it after all reporting post for meriting doesn’t mean it must be merited.

In my own opinion, my answer to the question is yes, we should advocate for more merit source. There are so many reasons why there should be more merit source added to the few available in the forum because even in a normal Job, When there’s a more labor force added to the job, it will actually make the job to be delivered swiftly. There are lots of newbies who is joining the forum now, and to add to the already existing members which makes the forum even more busy and you can see that there are probably lots of activities and posts which deserves to be merited but they are not getting it, maybe due to the fact that the only available merit source in the forum is busy trying to go through so much posts all alone and by so doing may not be able to reach out to some of the posts which actually deserves merit, and we all know that this merit serves as a source of encouragement and motivation to we members especially the newbies who are coming up, I’m not saying that they should be meriting any post they see, but they should merit the ones that deserve it. Adding more merit source will help to reduce the workload.

I think two merit source is not ok for a board as large as our local board, I really hope theymos will approve the request of those who applied because our local board is growing larger by the day .No doubt that the two merit source has been doing there best in allocating merit to quality post however before members from this our local board are applying to be merit source there is a need for that ,they have seen that merit is not circulating the way it ought to . So I think there are member who are not merit source but has really helped in allocating merit to quality post from there smerit and who has also host competition like the cooking competition in this board, if theymos can make such member a merit source I believe it will help this our local board a lot in not becoming a board deserted of quality post due to lack of merit.

Your opinion is valid @Moderator but for the fact that you barely come across good posts for meriting do not mean that good posts are not in the local board, it could just be that due to your numerous busy schedules, on and outside the forum might make you not navigate the local board thoroughly to see ''good posts'' as you said. I have already given a suggestion in my previous reply here that a thread should be created where every member of the local board can report quality posts they meet in the local board as this will save you the stress of making extra efforts in navigating through the local board in search of quality posts for meriting.

It is sad to see that your merit allocation monthly is being carried over when the local board is lacking behind in merit distribution/circulation and complaints have already been made to this regards. I also urge local board members to improve more on their post quality as that is what defines the introduction of the merit system.

Note: I am not in anyway trying to question your merit distribution but am just interested in ways we can assist you in fishing out quality posts for meriting in order to make it less tedious for you. What do you think?

It means I didn't come across it. I merit as I read and sometimes in my less busy time, I try to read through the board to merit. I spend more time reading than writing on the local board..

Indeed this issue is worth talking about, because I have been wondering why our local board seems to be different from other local board out there, truth be told things are no longer working as it used to in this local board because this was not exactly how it used to be back then. Which is why most newbies have been finding it very hard to cope after posting for a Long while and it happens to be that at the end they didn't merited anything, when most of thier post is worth to be giving at least 1merit......and the worst part is that the board which we always have a little hope of getting merit which is (unmerited good Posts) right now as we speak the thread is no longer functioning, and things is becoming very difficult for us who are still new in this space. However, i know being a forum moderator is a very big responsibility considering the total number of people in this (local board) of course I could imagine how stressful it is before you can be able to reach out everyone of us here, meanwhile you also have other things to catch up with, honestly I do feel for you I most say.


We are hereby hoping that the forum moderator @ igebotz to  create a new board for (unmerited good posts) as he said in the previous thread which he created before that was abandoned recently, I wish he could create a new thread as soon as possible and we are going to appreciate that LoL.

I understand what you meant. But maybe it would be good if you can message the merit sources at times and include your post in it. But this might as well be considered not appropriate by the merit source. If we have more merit sources, I guess things will change for good. I hope Igebotz will read this. There may be some favouritism but I noticed he is still sending merit good because I followed his merit history. I do see some of your post like the last topic you make on this board, it is worth merit on local board but I am surprised that no merit source merited it.

Directly messaging a merit source for Merit to certain posts doesn’t actually sit well with me because many will be spamming his PM for merit source, so that’s not a suggestion that sit with me.

Then relatively about having extra merit source I think there is absolutely no second thought about that, it should be priority before even considering the merit increase for the existing sources and my reasons are Theymos hardly does that, we all know how long that Brain Boss has been advocating for this and it still hasn’t been able to get. Other reason is that more merit source means more merit circulation, because no matter how we put it there is going to be a little less awareness of other quality posts by just one merit source, while I can’t call the current source been biased I will rather say they have had eyes for people they feel like are quality posters and that’s a thing on not just Nigeria local board but the entire forum at large. So all of us are all selfish, and that can be seen from the threads submitted to get merited

Last I think the way the forum is parading the local board with each and everyone going to submit their applications although base on forum rules is valid still doesn’t make sense to me, the timing in some applications makes it look like a competition which doesn’t help the local board, there should be collective stands instead of this spread agitation for several people

The report post per each person does not also necessarily have to be ones. It can be reported multiple times with the member quoting the ones he has reported before until they are 5, and starting another one after the 5 good reports. Altcoins not accepted also. Just a suggestion. But...

the suggestion you gave @charles-Tim is a very good one, but looking at what  @igebot has stated above everyone will just be looking out for themselves and that's the truth, so the only solution to this problem is to have more merit source in the naija board for that's the only way merits will be distributed better, so less advocate for more merit source in the naija board period.

Should we advocate for more merit source? Yes we should, our local board members don apply for merit source and Dem still dey wait for approval, quality posts full this board but e no dey receive merit and e dey very discouraging, I don see newbies wey dey try Wella and Dem suppose don rank up now but nothing come out. @Igebotz don try for us and I hope say others wey don apply for this merit source position go help us grow as the merit source wey we get now dey do, even CBB too don try but we need more merit source. We've only 1 LB merit source and that's our moderator Igebotz, I don't know where you're seeing the handful from, I still stand to be corrected though.

It’s surprising that you don’t know the Naija local board has 2 merit boards, which are Igebotz and Cryptobrainboss. Although we have a lot of quality posts in the LB, and I can say we need more merit circulating in the board to keep people more active and providing more educative content in the LB, one thing is sure: regardless of how we post quality, not all posts will be merited. So that is why sometimes it is considerable. I believe if there is more merit, like other boards, merit will be circulated more than it is currently.

If you check the various local board analysis in terms of number of active users, number of posts per month and merit per post with other parameters, you will know that we need more merit sources. For now we have only one merit source who is also the moderator of our board, I don't think the merit allocated to him will be enough to serve our local board that is one of the busiest local board in the forum.
