Op your question Worth discussing, the truth about the whole issue lies in the hand of citizens to put government into action, if you say government is lacking behind financially my answer is capital no, today government is making more money than the past, many minerals resources, are been extracted on daily basis and many companies are Open on daily basis where taxes and others income flow to the government, including the speed of production as technology has enhanced beyond the past. The problem is the leaders having the required knowledge and foresight or visions of building their nation in helping the citizens to get world class health and others basic amenities, rather than their selfish gain.

The embezzlement by many government today but directly or indirectly is far beyond what government uses in the past to give citizens give citizens good living, where one leader will be taking or having possession of trillion naira, ND billions of dollars stockpile or stack, without projects to which the money was released for , it's the selfness of the government officials and lack of the citizens demand of accountability as most citizens sings praises even if they know that the man is meant to provide this basic amenities but failed.

I believe that the government plays a fundamental role in regulating monopolies, protecting consumers, and managing resources, but personally, I think that independence comes from within us as biopsychosocial beings, and it is always good to maintain your own capital.

Is a right that the government should make life easier and better, provide us with jobs employment, electricity, quality education and facilities, good roads and hospitals, all of these is what the government owes us, it is not about expectations but something that should be done when the government is right.

If a government isn't doing all of these, they are cheating us because the resources of the country is meant to cater for all the budget, including the taxes we pay from our income. From what i have witnessed, the government is cheating us, all they do is for their own gain.

In my country, if you depend on the government, you're intentionally bringing yourself some pain and disappointment. You should be self sustained so that government shortcomings wouldn't be affecting you seriously. I've not even received a penny from my government before and I've been surviving and progressing.

Most government are so selfish that they don't care about the comfort of the masses, they're so corrupt and embezzle public funds which should've been used for the good of people with reckless abandon. The best you can do for yourself is to stop playing victim and rise up to the challenge of being responsible for yourself instead of allowing the incompetent government play games with you.
