Simple tools. Money talks - they invest a little in bots, and they get to run stuff on them, or get full control of it. Really point-and-click simple - but they tend to do stupid things, like run miners at 100% unconditionally on bots...
Yeah that sounds about right. I have removed countless "rootkits" from Windows that would have gone undetected were it not for the fact that they crippled the machine and/or made their presence obvious in some way. |

Why? You realize 32-bit is pretty much dead, and 99.9999% of people asking for 32-bit CPU miners want to run them on botnets, right?
Wrong. I would have thought that anybody with the nous to run a botnet would also be able to compile their own minerd from the source in next to no time anyway. I also still use old 32 bit machines myself for various applications. They make very good XMG wallet hosts too. I told you about my XMG sausage machine on a Celeron didn't I Wolf0?  They really don't, believe me. It's rather funny, they're computer-stupid, most of them. However, 32-bit IS dead for most machines - old toys kept around don't count - no one will run an application that requires CPU performance, like a miner, on a 32-bit machine. Wolf, really, if so many computers are bots with Windows 32 bits, it's because lots of them can't be upgraded to 64 bits version. I've a few with custom applications that can't be rewritten and use old components hardly working on XP 32 bits. Upgrading to 64 bits will cost me a few weeks of dev and money, but theses machines have a lot of CPU cycles to spare for Magi... |

didn't expect a qns for 32 bit miner to turn into a debate if using 32 bit are botnet operators. I'm just stuck with a pc that's 32bit and too lazy to upgrade it to 64 bit since it's going to last just a few more months but that's still a few more months of cpu cycles i can use for MAGI.

Totally agreed, thanks Spexx! You are very welcome and 32 bit is not gonna die anytime soon. Just think of the number of ATMs and EPOS terminals currently running XP and the cost of upgrading it all. |

Fine - can we get rid of 16-bit real mode, at least?
I doubt that will happen anytime soon either. Bootstrap code is, by its very nature, simplistic and does not usually need to access extended address space beyond 64K. I kinda miss Himem.sys and emm386 ... Nostalgia isn't what it used to be  |

Btw, my working computer runs windows XP on top of i7, it's a pity, but I have to live with that thing; there are many custom software programmed for xp which is unfortunately unable to run under 7/8. We'll need experienced person to recode everything, but that seems not worth/necessary. We have a bunch of XP P4 which are just doing pretty good job in particular acquiring data.

And Licence for Windows 64 bits is a different one of Windows 32 bits. Should buy again the OS... |

It depends on how we (I mean enthusiasts of MAGI) will support DevTeam and work together.
Two major issues:
1. stay tuned and keep calm. Be active and don't even think about giving up.
2. DevTeam should lead us to better future as well. I mean they will invest thier own time and abilities in improving MAGI. Thay can do that. Personally I am focusing on DevTeam's strategy for future. It should be most value factor, if they show proper way on development matter, all folks will be very happy. That's the clue.
Why? I know some guys who are waiting for any positive sign to join here. They haven't joined yet,because couldn't see it. |
