If you want to help increasing the XMG price, put some hashrate at our multipool https://multi.magipool.info/You can mine different algos with GPU and ASICs. great i send some hash to your pool will send more when i get home

Is it possible to change what the hashing power of all the miners is used for? What i see right now is that there is a shift to coins that don't let you hashing power go to waste like most coins do right now. Some coins are starting to give it a purpose like folding proteins or doing other calculations for a good cause or at least for something else. There are coins starting to use your cpu, gpu and even your harddrive to mine for a reason. Giving out your harddrivespace for rent or you cpus and gpus power so that someone can calculate their stuff. I guess these coins have a future compared to those that just waste the computing power used. Is it possible to change Magi to do the same? Not just currencies are getting decentralized there is so much more decentralitation going on and it should not be ignored. This process will need a lot of computerpower and harddrivespace and any coin that is not giving their power to that process might die.

Thanks for this, however it still isnt working.. The blockchain is loaded up to 99.44% with your files, but still not completing. And whenever I try to Unlock the wallet with my password, I get the following message: http://s14.postimg.org/s9e0c47k1/magi.pngAnd after this I get magi has stopped working and needs to close blabla. My coins are lost ? Btw my firewall isnt blocking anything.

Did you backup your wallet? If yes the coins are still there. If not try to make backup!

And after this I get magi has stopped working and needs to close blabla. My coins are lost ? Btw my firewall isnt blocking anything. It'll be safe if you have a backup of the wallet; try the following tests: # Remove everything from the magi data directory, unzip blockchain into that; do not copy & paste your prior wallet.dat, so only those files from the zip file sit in the "Magi" folder. let the qt-wallet create a fresh one # launch the 32 bit qt wallet # see if you can get synced and any error you get same as before (do lock & unlock) I tried the blockchain in my xp machine running the 32 bit wallet without any issues so far. Looks like something is still blocking block chain updating. Could you find another PC to try it out? Someone who reported the connection issue before finally found out because of the firewall, make sure this is really not the cause.

This is appealing to me, since me, myself doing research stuffs too. I was ever trying to find a way to make the algo much meaningful by using it for some purpose, but failed to see the importance of that, and the way we can make it really meaningful. Then I decided to mess up something. I don't know the bio stuffs though, but was trying to figure out primecoin which searches for prime numbers. I admit appealing of its achievement, but who really cares about that, and that doesn't really sound science, to me. It is fun by achieving historical record, we can make efforts aftering "perfect", for example, finding the pi number: http://www.angio.net/pi, but does that really matter using 200 number of pi or 100 numbers in computation? It's perfectly fine running a PC for few days to figure it out, but totally waste having 1000 PC for this task again and again. As an example, 1000 pc running for searching a PoW question, one found the solution, aka, minting a block, whilst the efforts of other 999 pc are simply wasted at the time when one of them found the solution. Importance which makes sense is to use the network hashing power concurrently, and find something that really needs repetition of solving. I don't see the impossibility of finding algo which does this purpose (let me know if other coins did, like the one folding proteins did?). If not, we should take a look at the wasted hashing power in maintaining the block chain, e.g., the primecoin or the one doing protein cal, and compare that with the hashing power used in magi. I think one can easily figure that out. I agree doing science or making it something is better than none, but that is just an appealing point, and that is totally nothing if not doing right. I keep thinking / finding the purpose of a cryptocoin. A coin should maintain this purpose a coin is supposed to be; being emphasizing on other stuffs without addressing the original purpose is mostly trivial. A coin should at least aim at saving energy, keeping distribution fair, mining accessible to most of people, a purpose I've viewed. Point me anything I missed. I open to any suggestions, and surely to the direction we can make change to something meaningful. The algo change doesn't matter the magi design, so we have room for that purpose, being "science" and without compromising the purpose.

@ Spexx @ joelao95 @ twatsTried all of these with same results: Spexx-Win64-generic-XMGminerd wolf-m7m-cpuminer-V2-x64-0204 sweet-spot-0.9.7 cpuminer_win64_magi_byMarcusDe-generic XMGpoolminerWin64.zip All was started with actual miner name + -o stratum+tcp://mine2.magi.nonce-pool.com:4090 -u Misiak.misiak -p misiak --quiet -t 8 And I tried 8 instances with -t 1 with same result. @ hefty turbo is of course enabled but I will try to disable power save mode (never had problems with it for other coins)

Tried it, when I use a fresh wallet.dat there seem to be no problems Does this mean my own wallet.dat is corrupt? It loads just fine, but whenever Im prompted for my password it crashes as soon as I enter it. Ive also tried dumpprivkey, returns error code 4. Damnnnn

All was started with actual miner name + -o stratum+tcp://mine2.magi.nonce-pool.com:4090 -u Misiak.misiak -p misiak --quiet -t 8 And I tried 8 instances with -t 1 with same result. @ hefty turbo is of course enabled but I will try to disable power save mode (never had problems with it for other coins) Can you check other coins mining, just to be sure? don't see any issue with the miner. As Spexx mentioned, do you use any Speed Controller or CPU controller? Easiest is just testing another coin mining.

Damnnnn That's very weird; using the old wallet at least give you synced, but seems like you got the connection issue too, right? I tried in my machine using old wallet.dat and fresh new, everything is just fine. Could you confirm if using 32 bit wallet fixed your issue? If so, use that for your prior wallet. You can have the old wallet tested in another laptop and sync from scratch. Also I can try to get a fix for you if you send me wallet.dat but you have to tell me the password and trust me. (or without password, just to confirm)

baytoba i had same problem with scsy wallet and many other users
they dev tell us to do this and it worked you can try with magi if nothing else works
"I had some small issues as well.
The easiest way to fix the problem for me and to not have to wait for the chain to re load was this.
Take the wallet.dat file out of your securitycoin folder and place it somewhere else like your desktop.
Erase all files in your securitycoin roaming folder.
Start the wallet so it creates a new empty wallet.dat file and let it sync with no transactions.
Then when the chain is fully synced copy and paste your original wallet.dat file into your securitycoin folder.
Re open wallet and it will be synced. If you see any coin discrepencies in the wallet when you reopen then go to your debug window and type
repairwallet.
Everything will be synced and this should take about an hour to do including time waiting for the chain to sync.
Thanks"

I think karma coin is one coin that tries to use the computer power to do good(i don't know what algo they use). I am realy only like two weeks into cryptocurrency and have yet much to learn. But i was looking for good coins, thats why i came to magi. It's kind of unique with it's M7 algo. But i found others too. Storj and maidsafe try to use your hdd space to create something like a decentralized dropbox and more. Etherium is trying to do much more and i realy can't explain how, but it sounds like they are trying to decentralize the whole internet. Burst is atleast power efficient by mining files on your hdd, but they too want to create decentralized storage in the future. And to be honest i only see a future for coins with a purpose for all this computation power and hdd space.
