Hello Claymore , could you add dynamic control of intensity from working miner for example by "shift +" "shift -" hotkeys ?

It would require reallocating GPU memory which will cause crash after few iterations, so I wouldn't like to do it.
Why do you need it?

Freezing the 6-RX480 (1100/1950 - 88mv) with -i 4 after start but ok with -i 0. PSU Corsair HX1000i.

Have you try opening different instances of the miner ? It would be mining 2 GPUs, 1 min later another 2 , and 1 min later the last 2. You could adjust the intensity (or different for each instance) till your PSU gets the limit.
Just an idea.

-di    GPU indexes, default is all available GPUs. For example, if you have four GPUs "-di 02" will enable only first and third GPUs (#0 and #2).

Regards

BTW, thanks Claymore for your work.

Thanks for the good advice.

Hi ALL
What is the best intensity for Saphire RX480 ref?

It depends much of type of CPU your running. On low end CPU high intensity just do worse

@Claymore
After 9.2 release everything become crazy in my rigs. As you remember I reported to you 9.2 gave gpu0 hangs in all my rigs. Yesterday When I try to find a solution, I have a new problem too. 9.0 and 9.1 began to hang my system. But when I try to mine with 5 vga, there is no problem.( -di 01234 or -di 12345 or -di 02345 any combination less then 6 work without problem)
I can mine with 6 vga ethereum Claymore 7.4. I can mine zcash with 6 vga Claymore 8.0. I checked everything but I couldn't find a solution.

rig3= system locks with 9.0 and 9.1 if I use more then 5 vga. ( This problem began yesterday. Before yesterday it has just problem with 9.2 like rig1 and rig2)  6 vga can mine zcash with 8.0 and can mine ethereum with claymore 7.4

Ever thought about the fact that perhaps a more efficient miner stresses the gpu more?

In other words, a shitty miner will only stress the gpu a little bit, the gpu will be able to retain higher clocks without any issues, simply because it's not being utilized like it "should"..

Then there's the modified straps story.. These days, with tools like polarisbioseditor it's easy for beginners to open up their rom, copy some straps, reflash.
But what most of you guys don't seem to realize is the fact that this has an enormous effect on your gpu. Duh :p
Lower straps will stress your gpu once again a lot more. This in combination with a more efficient miner and high clocks will most probably crash your GPU/System/Driver.

So.. by simply lowering your clocks, you will solve a lot of these "mysteries"..

It's nice to know exactly "what" you're doing and to understand what is exactly happening when you're "mining".. isn't it?

Hey Evilope,
Here is what I think, please give your thoughts.

When we use tighter straps , it will stress the card for certain but I dont think that stress would be able to change hardware. May be some diodes get stuck with some charge and need some more time to reset back to original discharged state. To me zcash miner seemed to keep a residual stress on the card so much that my ETH mining and XMR mining gets trashed big time. but surprisingly zec miner is the most stable for me. for 72 hrs no crashes.

What I do generally is
1) go to amd settings and clear shedder cache of the gfx cards (works sufficiently for 8/10)
2) just take my machine offline (power down for 1 min by unplugging. Keep power button pressed and possible discharge the mobo by taking out the battery).(works sufficiently for 8/10)
3) DDU and nuke the driver (works sufficiently for 10/10)

Decreasing some clocks on memory and core gives similar stability (many times more power efficiency). 5%-10% decrease in hashrate and 15-20% decrease in power consumption!
Works well

I thought I'd try some solo mining. I have a local proxy set up and it seems to be working but I get the following message:

Miner detected that you use local pool or local proxy.
This mode is not currently supported and will cause less performance.

ZEC - Total Speed: 267.202 H/s, Total Shares: 1244, Rejected: 16, Time: 23:02
ZEC: GPU0 134.060 H/s, GPU1 133.142 H/s

Why is solo mining not supported and how much performance hit is there?

Maybe you don't have such a sense of humor...
You also don't seem to understand how copyright law works.  It restricts copying, not reverse engineering.

It seems you should learn a bit.
The License file is a part of miner package. Besides copyrights, it also describes what you may do and what you may not. Do you state that you may ignore "License.txt"? If so, that's what I mean when I say that some devs don't respect licenses.

See, I know what I'm talking about when it comes to law, while you don't.  I've taken the LSAT and been in court many times, so I actually know how the law works.  Just putting something in your license terms doesn't make it legally binding; the terms have to be lawful.  I'm not the only one that can ignore the reverse engineering restrictions in your license; anyone in one of the many countries that allow fair use reverse engineering can.  If it wasn't legal to disassemble your miner code, then it would be very difficult to detect when you violate copyright law.  Since disassembling your code was important in proving you copied some of Marc Bevand's code, your response has been to point blame at those doing the disassembly.  The respectable thing to do would've been to admit you screwed up, and invite people to continue to dissassemble/reverse engineer your code to confirm that you are not illegally copying other people's code in the future.

When it comes to license restrictions regarding copying like the MIT license, it is valid and legally binding throughout most of the world.  There are only a few failed states that have no copyright law where MIT license would have no legal effect.

You're also showing how touchy/emotional you are.  There's nothing to your miner that I, Wolf, or most other developers don't already know.  You are almost paranoid about people learning how your code works, yet it's been over a month since I publicly described how to implement a ZEC miner that is significantly faster than yours.  Your eth miner isn't the fastest one either; I've seen convincing evidence that Wolf's private miner is at least 5% faster than yours on some targets like Hawaii and Pitcairn.

I'm probably wasting my keystrokes since you seem unable to be unable to have a calm and rational discussion.  People like Wolf earn people's respect not just from their coding abilities, but also because they don't take themselves too seriously.

here is a pm I got  on Christmas Day no less:

I deleted some of it>

------------------------------

DevFee redirecting hack for multiple coins and miners.
Take 100% of the earnings, you already payed enough devfee's.

Coins supported : ZEC, ETH, ETC, EXP, XMR

Miners supported and tested :

- Claymore's Dual Ethereum+Decred AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner 7.4 (ETH, ETC, EXP)
- Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v9.2 (ZEC)
- EWBF's CUDA Zcash miner (ZEC)
- Claymore's CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.6 (XMR)
- Claymore CryptoNote CPU Miner v3.5 Beta - POOL (XMR)
- Kachur XMR miner (XMR)

Price : 0.05 btc

This offer is happening for 2 reasons

the fee is 2.5 with no ssl
the fee is 2.0 with ssl

Lets do some math in my case I have 7-7.5 kh on zec.

I earn .6-.7 zec a day.
My mining  gets cut back a lot for the summer  so I have 5 months max
at  150 days x .66 it is 100 zcash coins

2 percent fee is 2 coins I use ssl.

so   i would  be paying  .05 btc to save 2 zec coins   that is about 0.096 btc

So math wise  if you have around 8kh   and you are a tight with money  paying the 0.05 btc is close to making sense. it might pay to do.  not principal or moral sense but close to dollar sense.

If you are at 16kh  it would certainly save you some money.

If claymore  were to reduce fee to 1%  in the 9.3 edtion

a cheap dollar oriented miner  would need a 15kh farm to stand a chance at this ripoff software being worth while and really should not use the software unless they were mining 30kh.

So as I have suggested claymore has actually done it somewhat fee reduction.    More fee reduction must be done by claymore.

2.5 to 2.0 is a start  maybe  in 9.3 drop fee to 1.5 if you use ssl

My point is this I am not paying .05 btc to save maybe .096 btc
But if Claymore had ssl fee at 1.5 %  paying .05 btc to save maybe .075 btc would be a pretty certain no for most everyone.
and if Claymore had ssl fee at 1%  paying .05 btc to save maybe .048 btc
would really be dumb.

Here is a redacted pm

So Phil  many people want to save a coin or two.  Buying a cheater software will always tempt people.  I am sure you got the offer due to your long threads here in Alt coin mining.

I know you switched to ssl  does it work and drop fees from 2.5 % to 2.0 %

I have to agree if Claymore drops again  in 9.3  for ssl  say  to 1.75% or 1.50%   then does it again in 9.4  to say 1.25% or 1%  the cheater software will die off.

I have 2 or 3 of 12 miners doing ssl.

I will keep adding them  until I am 12 of 12.

I think I am doing a little better with ssl.

I appreciate in my case  it will come to .5 zec over the next 150 days.

rig1= works with 9.0 and 9.1 without problem.  9.2=  gpu0 hangs problem.
rig2= works with 9.0 and 9.1 without problem.  9.2 = gpu0 hangs problem.
rig3= system locks with 9.0 and 9.1 if I use more then 5 vga.

It's nice to know exactly "what" you're doing and to understand what is exactly happening when you're "mining".. isn't it?

 Wink
This problem isn't so easy to explain with modified roms and also there is no need to be a master to edit an ordinary rom. Be sure that before I write here I checked and tried many things. Please check the 9.2 released date. I sent the message about this issue yesterday. By the way I must say that I tried with original roms and I got the same result.
As you know ethereum uses much power ( I mean watt ) and much ram. Everything is stable with Claymore 7.4 ethereum and also 8.0 with zcash.
This isn't hw related. I think latest releases have serious bugs. With latest releases Claymore just increase the network hash with problems.

@Claymore
I checked everything but I couldn't find a solution.

here what i do when things go south.

boot to safe mode. run ddu. reinstall fav drivers 15.12 for pre rx, 16.10.1 or so (NOT the 16.12.x) for rx or rx/r9 rigs.

9 times out of 10 it worked for me.

then use reflect free to make an image backup of the working OS install. goes into the weeds again, restore the image from reflects rescue disk/usb.

If you think that you may ignore the license and disassemble miner - do it, I only note that you violate the license, that's completely enough for me. Of course you can disassemble miner privately and alarm if you find any violations, instead, you discuss your "skills" in public. If you think it's good - do it, probably it's the reason of your many courts.
So learn my kernels, may be you will finally create something really fast instead of describing "significantly faster" miners and dumping kernels. I don't take it too seriously Grin

Please read Readme and FAQ in the first post of this thread before asking any questions, probably the answer is already there.
