I first saw this your post when I was about to start my pushups, having woken up early enough under the chilling cold misty morning and I felt like you were directly talking to me. I have always been used to 7 sets of 20 pushups daily  with slight changes even though I have wanted to break out of that comfort zone but the more I try the more I fail.

Seeing this your post made me understand that extra work has to be done. I succeeded in hitting 300 pushups in 10 sets of 50, 40x3, 30x2, 20x3 and 10 even though I had a lot of resting moments especially after the 6th set when I had to rest for about 20 minutes. It took me about 2 hours to achieve and I'm happy I did even though I feel so weak.
10[edit]0k,Tonimez,233,29600,2025-07-27

There can be some value in doing all the sets close together, yet even if I do a double set, I will do something like 30, 35 or 40 and then I will rest for a couple of minutes and then do the next set, which would be 30, 35 or 40.. .. Then I might wait at least an hour or maybe even 2-3 hours before doing the next set.

So, if you are doing 10 sets, it could be possible that you do 5 double sets... .. but yeah, you may be doing even better to be doing them all at once and then doing a kind of upside down pyramid, and so you might be getting more burn that way, and then you don't have to spread them through the whole day.  If you push until exhaustion, then you might end up having fewer and fewer pushups each subsequent set, but then if your purpose is to do all of the pushups at once, then maybe you might not want to take so much time to do them all and then just have 1-2 minutes between each set.  Maybe I can try this out and see how it goes?  It seems too intense for me, but I might want to try it out.. just to see what happens...

I don't want to do 200 pushups in a day, so maybe I will just have somewhere between 1 minute and 3 minutes between each set and have my first set as 40 pushups, because 50 would wear me out too much if I am going to be doing subsequent sets... I will think about whether to try something like that.. .which I cannot imagine taking more than 30 minutes or 40 minutes at most to do them all.. so maybe if I do a pyramid superset like that once in the morning and then see if I want to do ay second pyramid superset a second time in the evening.. or maybe just do my lunges in the evening, since I am not really wanting to add a lot of pushups each day since I already caught up to the BTC price.  I kind of have an idea about what I will do, but we will have to see how it plays out when I am actually doing them and how I feel.. since I had only been doing 2 sets at a time at most, since I have such a long recovery time, in general based on age kinds of considerations.. so in that regard, I am thinking that I might get too sore to try to do all of the pushups in a short stretch like that, but I'll consider giving it a shot..

Admittedly, I'm not sure if the trauma is not fully physical. After the injuries, I now am almost instinctively paranoid about certain types of movements in the shoulder sockets, especially when the stress brings it to back where the blades are (such as when doing an overhead smash in badminton, or backhand, or a pushup). My therapy has been focused almost entirely on the muscles around the joint to hold them (as the actual cartilage is now exhausted) and on flexibility.

So maybe it's a roundabout way of saying, my goals are not set in stone... but I feel like it is less tied to the number, but more the stability of doing those numbers. Right now, a set of 5 brings me great discomfort, and very low stability (a lot of shuddering). It is a set of 5 but it is very slow! Once I feel that entire set is stable, I will up it.

But yes, I'll play this by ear and if a cycle is roughly 4 years, it gives me about an increase of 2 per month. I'm sure I can manage that, but expect also a lower incline on progress chart after a while. Thanks again, and let's see! Hope you solve your asthma a little today!

My fast sets are around 0.75 seconds per pushup, and my slow sets tend to be between 2-3 second per pushup... and sometimes if I go even slower, they start to feel like planks, even though I still tend to want to get 20 pushups for the slow sets and 40 pushups for the faster (or normal) sets.  Maybe normal sets might be just slightly under 1 second per pushup, but I am not consciously making sure that I do the full form, and sometimes I am trying to get quantity with reasonable form.. since these days many of my sets are around 40 pushups so I will tend to do the first 20-30 pushups at a faster pace, but then when I start getting closer to my goal, then i will slow down for the remaining 5-10 pushups depending on how I feel.If I feel really good, then my last 10 pushups will be very slow and measured, and if I am feeling tired and sore then maybe ONLY the last 2-5 pushups of the set will be measured and slow.

It does seem like a long time to increase your daily pushups from 10 to 100, yet I would imagine that if you are mostly being consistent, then you should end up progressing faster, yet at the same time, I suppose that there are always possibilities for injury, too.. and sometimes injuries in other parts of the body can make it difficult to keep doing the pushups... I have suffered a variety of pains in various parts of my body over the past 539 days of doing pushups.

Yea! Just like your last statement, I would say that pains and muscle cramps are absolutely inevitable. In as much as we work out oftentimes, they are unavoidable. Especially when one sets a target just as you guys have set for yourselves, and always ensures to carry it out daily even when the body shows a weak sign or feels like resting. For me that is still growing, at least managing 90 push ups per day, and just stepping up to 100 just yesterday, can't be compared to a 200 push ups and more a day that some other hit. That's why taking a rest for few minutes as you pointed out is just too necessary as it allows you to regain a bit.

One of the days, u felt so pained when I came out in the morning for my usual push ups and noticed I needed to rest, I tried but it's not working. I had to just cut it down by doing half of the usual, and ensured the completion during the evening hours. I was afraid of breaking down completely, thats why I had to pause and resume later. You know, for the fact that we are doing well to keep fit, we shouldn't get so engrossed to allow ourselves breakdown totally right? So my dear, all things out together and been equal, we must take rest sometimes to ensure the continuity of the push ups and the fitness we seek.

100 maintained just like yesterday but in another pattern. 20×4, and 10×2(sets)

Wow! 20 mins of jogging and then hitting the floor also? That's a great way of starting up the day with great energy and mental body alertness. I wish I engaged in such work out today. I remember sometimes ago, within late last month when I went out jogging with a female friend, though we didn't jog a long distance because she had no strength and wasn't used to such reguraly, but we were able to achieve some distance with me helping her out. When we got back, we both had some squats and stretching. I showered, ate something light and rested. It was a weekend, so I didn't go to work. When I later stepped out that day, I really felt light, easy going and strong, full of energy and mentally fit and ready. It was a great feeling sincerely.

I don't know, but there is this great feeling of relaxation in the mind, a whole rap of energy all around you and in all you do. I don't know someone else feels this too. Even though one feels pains or serious weakness after a workout session, when once you heal, you begin to recover and even gather more than you felt you have lost within the period of exercise. This is even the more reason I have decided not to give up on this push up challenge as it is a major means of me exercising and keeping fit due to lack of Chance because of my kind of work.
It's an all win situation. Kudos to you. Maybe I will try this out this weekend

Most times it's not we don't know that we need some rest or that we suppose to go for break, but when you remember your target sometimes, you just reduce your pushups set or number in order to remain on the floor. Having your regular exercise is important because sometimes when you go for breaks, you get used to staying off and that's when you start getting tired of the exercise. So I prefer remaining on the floor always no matter how small.

I had an experience this morning while engaging in my pushups. I initially planned for 200 pushups since I was recovering from the stress of the previous 300 pushups I had yesterday. After my initial set of 50 pushups, I felt some internal pain in my elbow.  The next set I planned for 40 couldn't hold since I had to stop for rest at 30. I managed to add 2 more sets of 20 pushups and realised that I can't go any further. The best thing is observing your system as you proceed. Even if you're far away from your target, just quit and come back another day.

I have been inactive for a long time since I did push-ups for a few days in the push-up challenge. Due to some family issues, I refrained from participating in this challenge. Although I wanted to do it again and again, I could not get back into it. Since when did I promise myself that I will do push-ups every day because now the work pressure is much less.

Even though I was trying after a long time, today I completed 50 push-ups in 5 sets with enough effort.

It's good you are back hitting 50 push up after a long time is good number to gradually regain back some lost energy.
Am gradually getting back to fitness too after been absent in past months.
I recorded 70 push up on saturday
Did 100 push up yesterday morning and evening in 3 set respectively
Then recorded another 30 this morning in the 2 set 15 reps each.
Total push up record,

I will keep on pushing hard, no going back, sometimes it feels the body is getting tired. After yesterday's pushups cause of the rain that beat me during my early morning jogging, all my body started paining me but I didn't allow it stop me from today's push-up, today I achieved better push-up and I think I will consistently be doing it. This push-up have been helpful to me , the pains is gradually wearing off. I was able to to 50 push ups in 2 sets. Consistency is the key.

Yea! That's the spirit. ''Nobody dies'', the motivating statement we constantly hear from our training coach during our football training section when I was much more interested in football game. The next you hear is,, ''No pain, No Gain'' yea!. Remember that's as the body pains, it will surely relax. And when once you continue, not allowing the pain to make you take a bow out of the challenge, Your body begins to get accustomed to it and then, it becomes part of you.

One thing is certain, everyone here, all those hitting big numbers daily where one time newbies to the challenge, either in real life experience or becoming a part of this push up challenge. Even me too, I gave up months back, but today am back again,, because the gains of been actively involved here is more than sitting on the bench for months. They once had serious pains, felt like giving up , some even gave up and later came back. But we are all here, encouraging one another and pushing on. We keep moving, for fitness, for Bitcoin. Bodily exercise is highly profitable.. Weldon 💪

The weather is very hot, and even in this weather, it's important to maintain consistency. Today, I'm continuing with 100 push-ups. I hope to gradually increase them soon.

we are about to enter august and if you are in the northern hemisphere, it will get hotter and hotter. people usually make arguments about summer and winter when discussing the seasons, but i think spring might be the best season. at least it is the season i am most comfortable in, because i am neither overwhelmed by the heat nor cold. if i feel like wearing a t-shirt, i can wear it, if i want, i can wear a jacket. sleeping is also quite enjoyable, as is waking up. besides, nature looks fascinating in spring.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to "non-custodial"

One week for me. Appreciate the feedback Jay, I'll definitely be looking to experiment a little, am usually more adventurous but I suppose age gets in the way a little.

Yes.. it can be good to share some ideas, even though in the end, you have to figure out the extent to which it is feasible to try to make adjustments to what you are doing, and many of us have likely found that we have suffered a lot of soreness in doing pushups, yet at the same time, if we are consistent in our doing pushups at a certain level, then it is likely that our body will get accustomed to that level and we might even then end up in a position where we have the option to increase our pushup quantity by our number of pushups per set and/or our number of pushup sets.. and of course, we can make adjustments to the time we take to do pushups or the amount of time between pushup sets.

1) Self-Custody is a right.  Resist being labelled as: "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

we are about to enter august and if you are in the northern hemisphere, it will get hotter and hotter. people usually make arguments about summer and winter when discussing the seasons, but i think spring might be the best season. at least it is the season i am most comfortable in, because i am neither overwhelmed by the heat nor cold. if i feel like wearing a t-shirt, i can wear it, if i want, i can wear a jacket. sleeping is also quite enjoyable, as is waking up. besides, nature looks fascinating in spring.

Nice one bro at least I have seen someone that love spring season as me...... As am speaking currently heavy rain is still falling in my side , just chilling and drinking hot cocoa

20mins of jogging and I felt no discomfort till I hit the floor, completed my usual number of push up...expecting a very busy day.

Jogging for that long doesn't need much, for me sometimes I just pretend to be running towards something and I make sure I remove my mind on the task ahead (like a distraction), before you know it will be up to 20mins and sometimes more than so let's say consistency plays a big role in all these. If not that I was going out today after all the exercises I would have hugged the bed and sleep off for hours and like you said after waking up you feel lite, like something big went off your body. You can try it too but I'd advise you work according to how your body direct you, no need forcing it.
That's the thing brother, after everything pains from God knows where will just appear and your body will be weak but not for long. Some persons do take drugs to ease the pains which is not advisable at all after every workout because it has to happen for the body to get used to it. Never giving up will motivate you the more, and I'd say your body is still new to these workout challenge so you'd give it time to adjust and in no time you'd become better without feeling much pains, give yourself some time.

Staying indoors due to the rainy weather, the rain doesn't looks like it's going to stop falling any sooner. I went to YouTube, downloaded  some pushups videos. It's all fun learning and trying to do something different for the day. I had some few new pushups styles and to be honest it was alot of stress for me trying to learn those few styles. My both arms have done some good workouts for the day, I am exhausted and they also need rests too Grin

If you don't know, learning new variations and increasing push-up diversity is really beneficial. For an outsider, a push-up may look like a single movement but depending on how it's done, it works many muscles in the body. That's why push-ups are an essential part of bodyweight workouts.
While we're struggling with extreme heat, it's raining where you are. This shows how this thread brings people together from all around the world. Smiley

+200 today.

I have read about the benefits of pushups exercises and it's very beneficial to the body.  It's also look very easy when a professional does it,maybe it could be because he has been training consistently to master it unlike me that's is still new to this kind of exercise .I have even notice that my numbers has been increasing which also means that my strengths is also adding up. Today I decided to maintain current new pushups styles on my lists for the moments before trying few more styles.
