Jesus Christ this video was publish by BA!?  Is this a joke? This also assumes your hands are small enough to get in there and manipulate the caps that way. Would BA be responsible if someone cut themselves and got tetanus or something? |

I hope to god BA didn't post that procedure... If they did they just violated sooo many rules. As a 'hobbyist' item perhaps it can be gotten away with. As a Consumer item - no. At that level as in No Consumer Replaceable parts. Let me guess - those caps are in the hot zone right? And were perhaps the 'wet' variety?  |

Holy crap, that cap removal vid! At least clip the leads flush. I am going to guess those caps have a crappy equivalent series resistance and at sufficient current load they just heat up until they outgas or otherwise ignite. This sort of thing happens infrequently on system main boards when a marginal cap can't handle the rated load. Use a solid-core, low ESR part of the correct WVDC and capacitance. Warning: proper parts cost a bit more. Gads... |

This is not official BA procedure it was posted be enthusiasts on forum, and stickied. Now you can add that BA didn't had enough time to make proper video, add that proper video is improper and cry more about everything else in the world. No one can help you if your hands grow out of bottom parts. Whine on. |

I saw on their forum that sometimes the fan connectors are installed backward. try flipping it. Tried it already. But it didn't work. The fan is definitely broken. I connected a CPU fan to the connector on the X-1 and it spinned up. Then I connected the X-1 fan (some Cooler Master 200mm fan) to a motherboard as chassis fan and nothing happened. |
