My X3 seems to have a problem.  Every 24-48 hours one of the two units stops mining.  Always the same unit.

The PSU and NIC LEDs look normal, the fans are running, and the blue "heartbeat" LED visible through the left front fan is blinking as normal.

So far as abnormal LEDs, there are yellow LEDs visible through the rear fans (I assume these LEDs indicate that the hashing modules are idle), and the blue activity LEDs on the front do not blink as the normally do when mining.

The unit is unresponsive on the network.  It does not respond to ARP requests, and of course is equally unresponsive to ICMP pings and HTTP(S) requests (since those require ARP to work).

Yesterday I swapped the PSUs between the two units.  The problem did not follow the PSU.  The same miner still has the same problem.

 Sad

(Both units are running software V1.8.)

@elemental there is a web page you can go to, to simplify finding the IP address without using the LCD  http://prospero.blackarrowsoftware.com/ (although that's not much use to you now).
As there were lots of documented problems in getting the LCDs for the Prospero, it is indeed behind the curve in terms of being set up ready to use out of the box.  It's supposed to show you the stats screen after boot, but instead you have to activate it manually.  It was discussed here, for the X-1 http://ecointalk.net/topic/1221-logic-ethos-lcd-wifi-x1s-shipped/?p=15968

It also sounds like you need to update the software.  See http://ecointalk.net/topic/1237-v1-updating-problems/

By default, device starts mining.  No pools are configured, but it mines.  Possibly "benchmark" mode - speed is higher than you get in reality, but who knows really?  I can't get a terminal session to look at the configuration directly, log in is not the same as for the web interface.

ssh [email protected]
password = ba

Or access the LCD through a browser: http://<ip address>/lcd

when i first started mine up, it was mining somewhere at 160 GHs then once i put in my pool info it went back to 100 MHs +/- 10.
They are not actually mining, they're doing: "cgminer --api-listen --api-allow W:127.0.0.1 --minion-freq=1000 --benchmark"

Yes, this.

There is a growing list of documentation here http://ecointalk.net/forum/78-support/

Bogart I am not doubting your network, I am assuming you replaced the network cable on the faulty machine, and changed ports on your switch already. Also, set up a ping watcher for the machine and watch the results for when it falls off.. this will tell a lot.

There is also a Windows tool you can use, to listen to the multicast packets that the Prospero(s) send out.  It's used for communicating with Prosperos in a datacenter, but handy for diagnostics.  http://ecointalk.net/topic/1182-multicast-address-grouping-your-prosperos/

Thank you, all is OK, I was more documenting my initial thoughts as I got the units set up.  They're running v1.8 so I think an update happened automatically and then everything started working properly.  Or better, at least.

Hey Captain where are the miners you agreed to ship me 5 1/2 months ago?

I've lost over $12k in revenue and the miners are fucking bricks now you worthless pice of human garbage.

Actually when you consider that you paid them for the machine already,.. it's actually not a brick, it's still a money maker for them until they ship it, it's still profitable for them, chugging those last few BTC out before they ship b/c no one will take legal action at this point, everyone has just given up or given in.

That sounds about right. I'm sure their rigorous testing includes several weeks months of hashing on a pool of their choice.

Try calling them. I've heard people have had better luck with that since it's not as easy to ignore a phone call versus an email.

I did try a while back, the phone never picked up. They were either ignoring it or it was off the hook. I'll try again and see if I fair any better. Makes it a little harder being in Australia but it's gone on long enough!

Look for minersource on the spondoolies thread lol this thread is abandoned, everyone here got what the deserved, BA was an unknown company with no track record in producing 28 nm heck 55nm chips, anybyou guys are surprised they ripped you off???

Everyone knows the preorder game is a gamble, some got lucky with the knc Jupiter and early avalons, others got screwed by other vendors too many to name here.

I wanted to buy a bunch of x1s myself back in dec but it seemed too good to be true at the time and invested in gpus instead.

Actually, if you look at his history rather than his mouth, so did Phinneas Taylor Barnum. But he did believe that parting suckers from their money was a moral obligation, and thus, fair. But his method was to tell them up front they were being suckered and see if they still bit. Scamming behind the scenes isn't fair play.

It wasn't.  If you change ebay.ca to ebay.com the exact same listing shows up.  This is true of any auction in another country's url.

I messaged Minersource again, asking for an update on the LCD and compensation and to ask for a partial refund due to the lie I was told about my ordered being valued at $100 when it wasn't. So far it seems they dont give a shit and ignoring my emails.

So if anyone is considering buying from minersource, just stop, because as soon as you have an issue. They will ignore you!
