Are you sure about that? :p My bitstamp chart says 3440 was the highest price the last 2 hours. Also, I think you need to relax your numbers a little bit Mic. You should update it once every 1 - 2 days or something, and only micromanage it the last week after bakkt launches.

Way back in the summer, my guess for a bottom was actually 4200 area I think, so that area now and the people's guesses are probably near term at least making the most sense now

Yes but in this scenario the new holder of the BTC would also owe $666 to dispose of the BTC - its not free then.   Its not making alot of sense but it would be a negative worth asset (not super cheap exactly) for sure ignoring possible revenue.
The new cost of the BTC is not that its coming with free money then, it would be like offering to buy a factory operation with a 2 year lease and rental must be paid and you also get some BTC.  That kind of thing, its not a real graph though! lol

Actually this is probably relevant because personal losses cannot be carried over between tax years to offset profits and capital gains tax.    Sometimes on the news they will state someone buys a company 'for a penny'  when they took on these great losses to offset profit elsewhere very possibly and so are hoping to gain overall from ownership.   Businesses always have an advantage over individuals in this way, I think they can carry losses over 6 years vs tax

Only if the new owner wanted to get rid of them at that point, however, if he didn't want to get rid of them, then he would have both the BTC and the $666 - so in that sense they did come with free money.  And unlike a factory or a business there are no costs associated with owning BTC so he could simply ignore the BTC entirely and simply spend his $666 on sex and drugs and rock & roll.
