I think they're doing their best to manipulate the market with all those fucking announcements.

If anything, it wasn't about market manipulation but keeping their suitors interested. Right before they missed their January deadline, they finished an investment round for like $200 million in VC funding. I'm sure those angel investors were hoping Bakkt would launch ASAP.

True, there was a fake Bakkt website (bakktplatform.io) claiming Bakkt would launch on March 12th but I don't think it's online anymore.

I'll bet there are thousands upon thousands of other delayed financial products and platforms right now that go completely unmentioned. It's only the desperation of us saps that fuels the desperation surrounding it.

This is how the real world operates. Overestimates are given. Problems emerge. People slack. Things fall through.

Crypto fans are childlike. They want everything NOOOOW and if they don't get it they'll hold their breath until they pass out.

Still it's weird that something that big and serious is delayed over and over with announcements keeping us on our toes like that.
It's either completely unprofessional or completely purposeful.

I won't mind holding breath all the way til 2021 to be honest. That'll be some time after halving, so maybe a slow burn of things coming together in 2020: scarcity, mining difficulty, and then external like Bakkt. Whatever's supposed to be priced in but not yet. Curious to see what people think fair value will be in 2 years, as that's when I'll also be in another age decade. Maybe I'll become more childlike and say Weeeeeeee

I’ve been wondering & thinking about this regularly. I don’t see what their problem is, would be good if they sorted out whatever red tapes they have to get through.

The problem is the CFTC. They're just taking their time is all. But they're pro BTC/cryptos so it will happen... some day. There's too much money already invested in it.

I wonder what they make of the CBOE throwing in the towel. I find it strange how we're told all of these establishment places have long term vision but they're just as prone to giving up when things go quiet as the average shitcoin brat.

I wonder how much profit Circle bypassed by relinquishing BTC retail and then dissing it in 2015 or so. If they'd hung in there they would've made a mountain of money.

This makes me wonder about how well prepared anywhere is going to be for the next bubble. It takes months and years to get the staff and back end in place to cope. The next one will be bigger and more manic and things may seize up even worse than last time. Very few seem to look beyond next month's wage bill.
