Well, I'm out trying to acquire one of these. Just wrapped up one of the most frustratingly unproductive email chains I've had in a while, about trying to resolve payment for a December 2nd order, and their support effectively told me to get to the back of the line and made some condescending remark about how I was supposed to request new information from them - Something I've been trying to do all along now for the last 25 some-odd days !!!

 *sigh*

Did you try to order from Minersource or from Black Arrow directly?... Black arrow doesn't support orders of individual units - and the US reseller has a better track record than what you indicated - so i'm genuinely curious here.

ALL ORDERS FROM 1/2/14 ON ARE NOW BATCH 2 ALL ORDERS PAID BY 1/3/14 ARE BATCH 1, PART 2, ETA MARCH 10

Phew, so my lone X-1 paid on jan 3 will be shipped in march. I panicked when I saw that stuff about being delayed until May and subsequently emailed Matt asking for a cancellation and refund, hopefully he will ignore ithe request now.

I'd email him again and clarify. The first time I emailed him (question about payment) he responded very quickly. He didn't reply when I asked about the batch later, but I know he's probably swamped.

Tried to order directly through BlackArrow because it seemed the logical thing to do at the time.

 Boy was I wrong.

25 days making zero effort to resolve a payment, and only 8 hours to cancel an order. They did ironically link me a "how would you rate our service ?" survey to fill out, and I gave them 1/5 stars *rolls eyes*

Something about this enterprise doesn't seem entirely on the level based on this experience with their customer service.

Got a bad feeling about Black Arrow Sad

Black Arrow LTD:

Could we please have an engineering update on the progress of the Minion ASIC? Thank you for your time.

From BA:

" Dear Customers,

We have some updates:

The Minion:

We have our final specs for the Minion. Based on our library (we can only simulate the TT corner which is 0.85v @ 25C) and the power consumption is 0.6-0.65W/Ghash. We trust that underclocked and underpowered the Minion will achieve under 0.5W/ghash as promised.

This is not as good as our first simulations which were based only on Front End but this is where we need to stop. The time does not allow us to continue our effort towards seeking a lower power consumption.

We had to drop the frequency from 1.5Ghz to 1.0Ghz in order to achieve this efficiency. However we've increased the number of cores so the Minion will hash at the speed promised.

We had met all the timings for 1.5Ghz but the efficiency was 0.8W/Ghash and this is not something we could have accepted.

The minion driver:

We have also published the minion driver and we're happy to announce that it is steadily mining into cgminer. We've made the driver open source:

https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer/blob/master/driver-minion.c

Batch 1 closed:

We have closed batch 1. All orders paid in 2014 will be shipped around 1st of May. "

THANK YOU for releasing this driver for our review and eventual use!

This is just the driver for cgminer however - do you have any information on the chip control board itself?  The preliminary datasheet has some good information but it's still lacking quite a bit of the details we'll need to develop our own boards.  When can we expect to see design information for the control board itself?

Again- thanks for the driver!

Only 5b? Sounds like a best case scenario... I'd pre-order more if I thought we'd only be at 5b by May.

Hello,

If there's anyone with a Batch 1 spot for Hosted mining orders that don't feel will be able to pay or decided to go instead for actual shipped hardware, please let me know.
I'd like to take your spot in exchange for some BTC fee.

Please PM me to arrange details.

Thanks,
arorts

I hope no one minds, but I tweaked the subject to reflect the current prices.

I also notice the website claims "in stock" ... this seems a bit deceptive to me.

Black Arrow said before that they had problems configuring the store software for accepting pre-orders thus only thing they came up with is adding this note to product page:

Some basic shopping carts wont let you place orders unless it's in stock, ie they can't handle payment for back orders.

Correct.
My shopping cart is the same way.
I just have to make sure in the description it's obvious to the people that it's a Pre-Order.
